Complex Parking: Continuously parked in - What can I do?

Used to know someone who would pour some petrol into the car's tailpipe under these conditions. When the car was started there would be a small explosion from the exhaust - a bit like the most extreme backfire possible. People did not figure out what was happening but started avoiding his parking spot after a while.

I doubt whether petrol in the exhaust would explode.

At my fathers work the parking is in the basement, some people have to pay for their parking space and everyone is allocated their own spot. Now someone my father knows arrived at work one day to find someone had taken his spot (which he had to pay for). So at lunch time he went down to the basement and put the guys car on bricks and put the tires in one of the store rooms, consequently no one ever took his spot again :D

The third day someone parked in my bay at work, I parked behind him and got a lift home that night, and never had a hassle ever again.

Seems I am not the only one with a problem like this. The people next door to my house refuse to park in their own driveway or infront of their own house but they park halfway between my garage and driveway which is next to each other.

Neither me nor my wife can the leave with our cars which is very frustrating and angers me to no end especially now that we have a 6 month old baby. If there is ever an emergency I would need to ram their vehicles out of the way.

Its easy to go and speak to them about it but they are the type of people that will then become childish and start doing things on purpose.

Now I just go and knock on their door at 4am and tell them I need to leave so they have to move which makes the dad extremely angry but yet they wont learn.

They even park ON other people's lawns just to not park in front of their own house.

Boggles my mind.

It would be nice you posted pictures of your experiences.

Idiot was parked in front of my driveway from Friday night till this afternoon. All the BC did was write a letter and stick it on his window. Was such a lame letter and didn't threaten him if there are future infringements or anything.

There's no point wasting your time getting the BC involved. Vigilante action is called for in these situations.

Ask BC to put up a no parking+clamping zone. If they dont want to then do it yourself.

Your other option is to put up the signs, and then contact a towing company...

I've heard of one or two that will happily come and tow a vehicle for free and then charge the owner for all the fees.

I wish I could train a few Hadedas to relieve themselves over a specific target, like those idiots parking wherever they want to.

If it is a complex, then irritate that body corporate until they fight the battle. End of story.

If it is residential... Heck no outcome is going to end in you loving thy neighbor.

Are you not afraid in these sort of cases that whomever parked you in may cause damage to your car?

The risk you have to take. In his case it paid off.

But Yea me personally... I won't take that risk

If I were to get back to a damaged car, I'd leave my car there for another day... I'd hope for CCTV and if I can't get anything out of the person who did the damage, insurance would pay out

This used to happen to me whereby my neighbour would block my driveway essentially making it VERY tricky for me to get out. His vehicle was a 2013 BMW 320d, I used to drive my old 1990 Merc. Guess which bodywork was stronger... after he noticed large scratches and dents on his car he got the idea.

I think as a start your BC should be painting a red line down the side of that wall an putting up no parking signs. Addition to that either they need to start clamping cars or arrange for them to be towed away. With the correct signage in place it makes it very difficult (even if it was obvious that parking there is a bad idea) for people to complain when they get clamped or towed.

You can get clamps and signage here: http://www.saspeedbumps.co.za/index.php/products/road-signs/
