Compulsory e-tag - or lose your drivers licence

I don't see how the article gets from this:

Much as this is misinformation atm... its the word "tag" that is worrying.

Its kind of like SANRAL will try get this passed while an e-tag is not compulsory to drive on the roads and then in a year or twos time make it compulsory to have a tag to use the toll roads.

If reading stuff like this on a day where the fuel price spikes with 71 cents doesn't send you into a blind rage, then your soul truly is dead.

Exactly my problem, the word tag makes me feel like these clowns will be able to monitor your car at any time.. how do we know what is inside this tag? can they see where our cars are at all times? do we believe there claims if they say they cannot? I can just see cars getting stolen from insiders like they do with the tracking systems. Or maybe im just a bit paranoid.

Won't work. Our ministers e-tags are paid for by - us - via our tax monies. They don't pay their own transport costs. They wouldn't even notice.

The could have said cops, metro police - so what/who are 'peace officers' ?
 
I actually wonder, a lot of people have gotten drivers licences, but do not have cars. How are they going to distinguish between the two?
 
There are numerous reasons as to why this is unconstitutional. One of which is the AARTO vs Criminal Act bit. Local residents will be prosecuted under AARTO while non-locals will be prosecuted under the criminal act. These two punishments are vastly different from each other which affords citizens from certain areas more/less rights than others. It is absolutely unconstitutional from every single aspect you look at it...

so how did they manage to build it before realizing that it will be unconstitutional and probably illegal?
