Computer perfectly predicts Springbok win over Wales

They got a whole 2 out of every game that's been played right?

LOL

Looks like Tarot card reading scores to me.

The Ireland vs Argentina game sees the South Americans losing by 8, according to the prediction, and Australia beating Scotland by 24 points.
They missed Ireland Vs Argentina score badly!

Just simple statistics being used. Probably GLMs. Nothing impressive here, just using past results to try and predict future outcomes with no adjustments for current situations. Depending on how good the fits are the predictions are going to be fairly accurate. However there will always be outliers (see Japan vs SA). Nevertheless a handy guide for betting people, yet it will never help in making those 1000-1 odds it takes to really win big.

They are in the top 0.3% of SuperBru users, so the algorithm is working.

Besides the fact that the system warned them about a possible upset, the modified the algorithm to say what they wanted to hear.

Also, most of the predictions are within range, so it gives you a nice guage to work from.

They're obviously looking into something bigger here and the focus is not on predicting sports scores but human behaviour. Think they're doing a fine job. I think they're years ahead.

THe fact that it's 88.6% accurate regarding the winning nation is already quite good

How accurate are we, and how accurate would a simple historical calculator be?

I figure close to 88.6% anyway

What a dumb article. Next time I see Kevin Lancaster post something, I'll dismiss it as either clickbait or schitty articles such as this.

I'm currently placed 153 / 74,879 in the SuperBru South Africa Fans Leaderboard. I think I'll stick with the educated guesses.

It's not a revolutionary idea that some teams are better than others and so when some teams are pitted against others it's rather easy to say who will most likely win. That they couldn't predict the harder ones with any accuracy and were far off with most of the scores indicates they need to go back to the drawing board if they want to predict human behaviour.
