yep. fujitsu siemens notebooks has nice value for money.
i recently bought one for my wife from makro.
no complain.

Not major issue - doing it for a guy. He wants no fuss, easy to use and no gimmicks. I was thinking around R8000 to R11 000 should get him what he wants.

Any specific brands?

Was looking at those. What boggles me is that they are a lot cheaper for similar specs, which is always fishy for me.

Btw, should I start a seperate thread? Don't want to contaminate this one with my issues... :D

Nah, keep using this thread, it nearly died anyway.

The reason Makro can sell at those prices is directly related to their buying power. They apparently give new meaning to the term 'buying in bulk'. This is ofcourse heresay but it does make sense. I know of quite a few people who bought laptops and projectors from Makro with no problems to date.
 
Okay, will go and look at Makro's offerings...

Can you get extra batteries and the like for the FS's?
 
Red Orange will build you anything, supply standard machines, peripherals, consumables, software, install networks and security systems. I bought my gaming rig from them and liked it so much I bought another (slightly lower spec one) for my son.

I've bought stuff from them. Always good prices. Sometimes have to wait while they get stock. Nothing (touch wood) has broken so I don't know about their returns policy/service.

I see they are located in jhb which is not ideal as i am in cape town and shipping is always a bit of a lus....

Anyone have dealing with these people? On the surface their prices are very competitive....

If one compares PRICES ONLY such as "Special Deal" from 20 retailers, without knowing, understanding, comparing the BRAND, TRACK RECORD and NOVELTY of all the components that can make PC, than she or he should just buy the best deal on offer.

I've used PCinternational they were good, When i used them. Free delivery even
Cyberdyne is good as well, ordered for me what i wanted :) And offered to deliver the item they didnt have in stock.
ComputersOnly had good service, for the once where i just needed a CPU Heatsink.
ComputeIT CC - Guy Darren helps me out very good serice and delivery same day sometimes. Also import special RAM etc.
Flytek - Specially imported goods :) Great Service, he is a computer freek himself :D
