Hi, forumites,

I've booked and paid for 4 tickets on the 14th of March 2018 for Sunday the 16th of September Comic Con Africa. (Note that is 6 months in advance). After payment, I immediately received the confirmation email with everything I need to collect my tickets. I was so chuffed and my kids so excited to go. Being afraid to lose my tickets I did not go and collect until yesterday.

I gave them the card I paid for on the Computicket website and they printed the tickets for me, no problems. Still so chuffed about this event I went home. Once I got home I showed the tickets to my daughter which then pointed out it is for the Friday the 14th of September and reminded me that she had told me she couldn't go any time but the Sunday. A very disappointed daughter handed the tickets back to me and stomped off to her room. I checked, and it's for the 14th ... WTF!

I double checked the confirmation email and it does say for the 16th of September. I got back in my car and drove to the Computicket desk and told them the tickets have the wrong date on it. After a long discussion, they ended up phoning head office which told me that Sunday is sold out.

How the hell is this possible !!! My tickets should be part of the tickets that were sold out !!!

I then took the phone and spoke to them directly, but only got the standard answer that it sold out, I asked to speak to the manager. She understood my problem and asked me to email her the confirmation email I had received. I forward the confirmation email to her which then contacted me and told me, sorry Sunday is full and that they will try and get me tickets for Saturday (which I also can't attend either).

Do any of you know how I can escalate this issue? I've got two devastated kids that's been waiting to go to the first Comic-Con in Africa ever and now we can't go...

I'm so mad I don't have words.

Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.

That’s crap, I better print mine then! Will be annoyed if they shifting dates to suit them as we planed sitters etc

Have you blasted this all over there Facebook page? Sounds silly, but that seems to be the only way to get things done these days

This is probably the most effective way to get heard, unfortunately.

Yeah, social media. Twitter and Facebook.

Long story short - you had a contract. You pay money and they let you in on the 16th. That is what your email states.

If you had the money for lawyers, you would win. But then they would just offer you a refund.

And, lawyers will not help in this.

They obviously oversold it.

I'm actually considering creating a Facebook profile just for this. (I've been off FB for more than 5 years).

Have you taken this any further?

I checked my tickets today, and I could've written the exact same story from your original post! My tickets say Date is 16 Sept, but "AREA" is Friday. After speaking to both Computicket and Reed Exhibitions, they confirmed that Computicket shows the last date of the event as the date, and the area determines the day. It's quite possible that I booked it in this way, but it's clearly very confusing.

It was made clear to me that there's no way I can get it changed now, due to health and safety reasons re. number of people attending.

It seems I'll have to abandon going to Comic Con. Nobody phones back or even reply to my emails. I'm so disappointed with Computicket, I will never use them again unless I absolutely need to. They are like the Postoffice to me now.

Not a solution, but can't you buy new tickets, i'm sure there's plenty of people selling their tickets for whatever reason. i had 2 of my friends try to sell me theirs cause they can't go. not sure which day though.

I've managed to cancel the tickets and got my money back. I don't think there's people selling tickets for Sunday though.
