Well, this really peeves me. From 4th till about yesterday morning, everything was great. Phone worked and I was averaging over 100kB/s. Then at about Monday, the phone quality became inaudible. I seriously couldn't hear what people were saying. They said they could hear me fine, but I ended up telling people to call me on my cell rather as I couldn't hear what they were saying.

So, I decided I could technically live with it, until yesterday afternoon.
Everything was going fine, then out of nowhere, speeds drop to 12kB/s. Im sitting on it right now, barely managing 4kB/s. WTF?! You cant tell me that 100people all connected to the dower and started to spam dls simultaneously.

Sigh. I read on the other post that neotel was apparently upgrading Olivedale towers. HOPEFULLY this is just part of the process.

@Neorep, can I have a response to this please.

Hi agentrfr,

I am connected to the same PN and also experiencing bad speeds. Ec/io is between -5 and -2.5 for me which indicates a pretty non loaded tower. Unless there's some backhaul I can't see what the problem is.

Im using a Dovado UMR, do you have any idea how to find the Ec/io, or do i have to plug it straight into the PC USB. I have a Neoconnect Prime.

Hey,

You cannot check the stats thru a route - it can only be done when connected directly to the device. Check the other thread I made on checking. Your connection stats. I'm on flex so I can't confirm if it works or not. Cheers, Ushir

Well dunno about you guys up there in Sandton, but down here in Durban, i'm not getting more than 5kbs

Well, seems to be working at an acceptable speed again. Can't believe I had to go through that again.

Sigh. Its now even worse than yesterday. Now I'm stuck at 4kB/s again. Must be a backhaul problem. ushir, if you would be so kind, please can you check for the Ec/io again, im on a prime, not flex.

Hey agentrfr,

I checked my stats - it appears im now connected to pn 208 and have an ec/io of -3.5 and an rssi of -75dB

Mine blows again too. After a week or more of 2mbps +
Down to about 600bkps at the moment.

Must be backhaul or the usual lack of communication ( read: ZERO ) regarding anything network related.

I have the same problem I connect to pn of 240 I have an rssi of 71 and a freeking huge 14 db aerial on the roof I had 4 bars till this morning now only 2 and Im still yet to get speeds of 0.17kb down Ill wait for seacom to go live if it makes no difference then I will cancle my account as im yet to get the min speed with my prime device

Sigh. What is this? It seems that everyone in Gauteng now doesnt have a decent con. That on top of there being no water now, and no electricity on Friday. Epic. At least with my 20kB/s I can still stream anime for the time being...

Yesterday from about 16:00 till late download speeds were alot better than they have been in a long while, very intermittent but was at least averaging just over half of what it used to be.
Today back to 1/3 pushing 1/4 of what it used to be :(

RSSI remains 91 on Pn: 376

Ye, kasbah, you and I are in the same boat. Im still barely hitting 30kB/s. And thats at 6 in the morning (super low traffic peak)...

Guys have u tried the software i provided in the other thread? Some people have reported it doesnt work on prime but make sure youve set up the port correctly in the software. For me, the modem is on COM3 and diagnostics is on COM4. I set it to COM4 to get the statistics. You need to look closely at 2 figures - EC/IO and DRC. EC/IO tells you the quality of the signal and DRC tells you how fast youre synced with the tower. I spent much of the day perfecting those signals and my connection is flying now. Another thing i noticed is that even though everyone days your antenna must be vertically polarized, when i mounted mine horizontall i got a MUCH better signal. So jus look out for this!

Hi guys

But my speed jumped from 200k to 500k since Monday.

I am using Prime, Midrand.
