I live in a house share where we have one ADSL line with a router from where everyone connects to the internet. We currently use Telkom Do Broadband as the ISP.

My question is, can I get another Do Broadband account for my own use, and if yes, where do I setup the connection.
On the router (Linksys)
Or on my PC

The pro's can tell you how to do it in the router but I just create a desktop connection. So using the connect to internet option, just insert your username and password.

Aye, you can setup the router in Bridged mode and use PPPoe Connections, but you can just dial the pppoe connections anyway as long as your ADSL settings are correct.

Guessing that your house mates don't want you to use their Do Broadband account(s), they would have to put the router in Bridged mode and then everyone has to dial their own PPPoE connections to their own ADSL accounts. I think the Do BroadBand account allow up to 4 concurrent (simultaneous PPPoE) connections per account.
You could then get your own ADSL account that you can then dial yourself (from your PC or your own router), and it doesn't have to be a Do Broadband account either.
The only ISP that won't work in such a situation is SOAL, as they require you to move your ADSL line from Telkom to them, prohibiting you from dialing to other ISP accounts.

is there an uncapped ADSL account that allows more than 1 concurrent connection???

Thanx for all the info all.

I use W7 and the others are using XP SP3 and Vista.

Just to recap:
I put the router in Bridged mode
Every PPPoE connection launced from individual machines

Every PPPoE connection launced from individual machines
lekker, unless you're making use of the free local only gigs i wouldnt suggest you get another TI account, like pada said, you could get cheaper int bandwidth elsewhere

Check if your router supports half-bridge or PPPoE passthrough. Then they'd all still use the connection that's configured on the router, and you dial in with your own account.

Thanx guys.

I want to set my PC up to use only local internet (SAIX)
