Confirming higher revs

Good day to all

Was hoping someone could help. Have a ford fiesta 2010 model, duratec engine and it went it for gearbox service and what not and I am pretty sure that I am running at higher revs now. For example: I remember driving 3000 rpm at 120km/h and now doing 4000 rpm at 120km/h.

Could someone maybe confirm what rpm their fiesta runs at so I can just be sure, struggling to find an answer on the web?

It's physically impossible to have your gear ratios change without changing something in your drivetrain. The only logical explanation is that the top gear is not being used.

If its manual obviously you will know. If it's dual clutch/auto might not be so obvious

Thus the reason wanting to confirm with someone on this forum if they have the same car by any chance and what rpm they run at the speed to see if I am at fault(not remembering correctly) or maybe the person that did the gearbox is at fault.

It is manual but all 5 gears work fine, have noticed that after the gearbox was done it is almost impossible for me to get past 160km/h

Have you checked with your phone's GPS what speed you are doing and if it matches even closely to what the Speedo says?

I'm just wondering if they maybe messed up putting in the Speedo gear

Matches almost precisely, out with 1km/h

What was the gearbox service about, was the gearbox broken or what exactly was it? Because a service on those just means renewing the oil, which wouldn't make a difference.

Has the idle speed changed?

So... Using this calculator: https://spicerparts.com/calculators/engine-rpm-calculator by adding in the values from here: https://www.avto.info/f/docs/Domace-predstavitve/FtD-TecSpecs_EU.pdf and assuming you use tires from here https://spicerparts.com/en-emea/calculators/tire-height-calculator - the calculator reckons your engine should be doing 2045rpm - ignore the other values - unless I buggered this up completely, in which case, ignore this entire post.

Yeah, something is not right, very little chance that a normally aspirated 1.4l would do 2000rpm at 120km/h.

I think your tire height is way off (though fair it is what the calculator says) and the fact that you are just using the ratio of the last gear, I left it in retarded units just to avoid conversion errors, this is a lot closer to what I would expect

I remember my ex wife's Fiesta used to go differently every time there was any major work done and would settle down after a while, strange yes but a mechanic that was used said the ECU will affect it a bit but only for a while. I didn't trust this but he seemed to be right..............?

3,500 is more like what I'd expect. What was done in this "service". The only way this would change would be a change to the actual 5th gear, replacing it with one of different ratio. Could be don, but it would require pulling and opening the gearbox. If your gearbox service didn't cost at least R10k, then you didn't pay for this. I guess it's possible they did it for some efarious reason, however, I can't think of any reason to steal someone's gear out of a gearbox and replace it with a different one. Your cost in labour would far exceed the cost of a gear.
