Confused New Member

Thanks for the info on utTraceStar. I have a tower about 5km from me, but over the hill. The other one is in Sunnyside. I might have more direct view on that one, but it's 10km away. Sounds like utTraceStar is the program to show me where to put the antenna.

I'm sure if I struggle with some of the info, there will be a lot of guys that will help me. Reading the utTraceStar forum, it sounds as if there are quite a lot of "other" settings that might increase your speed too.

Sorry for only asking now, but what do these iburst towers look like, any picture links?

That is a good question. I would like to know that too. And is there a list available with "planned coverage"? I can't really see exactly where the towers will be on the iBurst map. Don't want to install an antenna at the back of the house if there will be a new tower 2km from the front of my house.

Far as i know... the iburst towers can be installed on any high-points .. there is not really a way to see if it is a iBurst tower. common things to look for is a high builing ie. hospital or flats or huge buildings with loads of antennas ontop of it ...

and ppsking ... 1st rule ... before mounting antenna install utrace and see where do you get the best signal from ... you should strive for -50db to -60db ...

P.S. for the life of me DO NOT get an OMNI external antenna .... biggest hoaks since Elvis was dead ...

So which one is the OMNI antenna? I only know the white box from iBurst for R350. So any suggestions will be great, but please try and keep the suggestions as close to R350 as possible. That is my budget at the moment.

Wel the one you are thinking of is the one you need. SO just dont worry about it.

The white box from Iburst is actually probably the best, unless you go for the -18Dbi high gain one for R300 from GRES. Hes a member here, you can send him a Pm or something.
