Confused

Hey guys, i have an mweb 4mb uncapped account and since friday things have been weird, i cant stream any videos, download anything (i try to download a song which is 2.8mb and it takes 46 minutes :S) and everything is just very slow...but then i do a speed test and get a ping of 26ms a DL speed of 3.6mbps and upload of 0.56mbps.

So...what the hell? how can i be getting such poor service from all sites but speed test comes back normal, please help.

um, maybe you should read some of the other threads on this board before you post a new one?

You might have noticed that there are about thirty other threads talking about the cable malfunction in the Mediterranean that is causing massive internet problems for Africa and Asia?

So you haven't read any of the other threads and seen that the Seacom undersea cable is down? (from which one can conclude that all international traffic is going via Sat3 and satelite links and that those lines will be very congested and thus very slow)

well i have no idea who seacom is and no i didnt no it affected us in SA, ive seen similar posts but didnt get an answer from those that were relevant to my question. Thanks for letting me know though, any ideas when it will be sorted?

Might only be fixed on Friday the 30th

Seacom is the cable that launched in June 2009 (i think thats the date). It's got much more bandwidth that SAT3 which was the only cable before and everybody had to use it by going through Telkom. Seacom is the reason there is now cheaper uncapped accounts.

you're lucky... most of us had to go and buy prepaid to get access again.
