Got an sms today. "We are going to blacklist you for non payment of your TV licence" from SABC.
What a laugh.
I sent my daughter to renew MY licence 3 years ago. Not knowing the system, she bought a new one on HER name. Since then she has renewed it on HER name. We all watch the same TV in the same house. Now they want to blacklist ME for not having a licence.

I will now confuse them further. My daughter has ducked to the UK and HER licence is now due. I will send my wife to get a new TV licence on HER name.

I am sure they will be totally confused and want to blacklist my wife for not having one all her life.
 
Oh don't even get me started on these *******s!

They have sent me numerous messages threatening me with lawyers and then finally a phone call telling me that I owed around R3000 in television licences. I asked how they arrived at this and they said that I had paid for my licence back in about 1999 and not paid again. I laughed, which the guy obviously did not like, and explained to him that I went to the UK in 2000 for two years and obviously did not need the TV so got rid of it! He then told me that I was then obligated to cancel my licence! ha ha ha. I asked how the hell that works... I do not cancel my other licences, they expire!

Anyway he said I then need an affidavit explaining where I went and what happened to that TV. Needless to say I said no problem and left it at that. I have since recieved one or two more messages but no calls!

The other day my GF got the same black listing sms you got. She told me that she had got a licence once when she hired a TV from Teljoy!! This was for a rental period of one year and she then returned it!!!

They seem to be trying the age old ploy of scaring people into paying! If one quarter of the people pay they have scored at very little expense to them!
 
They can still blacklist you on Transunion or ITC. without you knowing until you try to get a new cellphone contract.
 
AFAIK under the NCA, you have to be informed in more than one way before being just willy nilly being listed ;)

And yeah, they tried the same thing with me too .... just told them that I've been with Teljoy for the last decade and to please try prove that I owe them any money ..... dumb **** !!!
 
They send the the future Mrs a "we will black list you sms" it turned out that it wasn't for her and they had the wrong number.
 
I won't feel so bad. Just read that Ford and GM has been blacklisted.
 
I have to remember to prove to them as well that I'm out of the country and don't own a TV anymore! ****ing crazy.

FYI, with the NCA act I think they can't black list you for any amount of money plus they have to let you know about it in more ways than 1 (I think you have to sign something to acknowledge the fact)

You can't just get blacklisted for oweing R2.00 to edgars anymore
 
Have not heard anything from them for some days now. Will wait for by birth month to get a free report at ITC and Transunion.
