Can someone please clarify the Vodacom data access points? For years I have used 'internet', but when I configured a new Nokia smartphone it came up with a whole bunch I've never seen before: Internet.Vodacom, Vlive! and Vodacom - Vlive! (as well as a couple of MMS entries).

It also configured a different outgoing server for e-mail instead of the tried-and-trusted smtp.vodacom.co.za. I can't remember exactly what it was because I deleted it, but it was something like net.vodafone.com or somesuch.

Which APN and SMTP should we be using for (a) data on a computer and (b) data on a mobile?

Thanks!

Those are just profile names not APN's. You can use either vlive or internet, not aware of alternative APN's.

The outgoing smtp server should be smtp.vodamail.co.za

Tks that's great. But what about the 'new' access points which appeared when I configured my new Nokia: Internet.Vodacom and Vlive!? Do I keep them on my phone and can I add them as backups for my PC access?

Those are the names given to the profile names on the device. The APN will still be (internet ) and (vlive). When using the phone as a modem your APN will always be internet. To answer your question , yes you can keep them on the phone.
