Congrats ANC Government?

IF the WC is a success, will all the doomsayers come out the closet and congratulate the ANC Government?

If hey, you sound a bit pessimistic yourself. Btw I thought FIFA ran the world cup so if anyone deserves credit it should be them plus the LOC, but as we now know Mr Jordaan gave the press the middle finger when asked for the documents relating to the tenders, sue me was his attitude. He even went so far as to say if they did win a judgment for the doc's he will make sure they only get them after the world cup is finished, why has he got something to hide ? I personally never wanted the WC to fail, maybe something good will come out of it, who knows. Then again it is just a football tournament, a little entertaining distraction.

It’s funny how you view things though, it’s like you expect me to say to my employee “well done for doing the job I pay you to do”.

Well done ANC. The WC is a great achievement. Now can you do something about crime, Eskom and Malema?

So you think paying a few bills with our our money means the anc should be congratulated? LOL.

Read genetic's comment above. If the WC failed, the ANC is blamed, if its a success, it's not their doing. Thats yout. The typical ignorant MyBB ****.
And learn how not to be illeterate. I said its a sure thing, I don't really think we should be congradulating them. They are supposed to be there.
And just for a little lesson: who coordinates developments, such as the WC? The GOVERNMENT.
Idk boet, go read a book or sometihng and come back here when you got a little bit of knowledge in life. Kthx

I think if it were up to the ANC, they would have imported a bunch of Cuban engineers.... So, no - this is not a "victory" for Africa, but it is a victory for South Africa. There is still a slight difference, you know.

Once the facts are known and not hidden by the ANC, then perhaps we can actually judge if this was a success or not.
It's extremely difficult to call something a success if the project resulted in criminal behavior / tender rigging / such not only being encouraged, but also applauded.

Perhaps you should learn how to spell illiterate before lecturing other people about literacy. Fail.

Strange... if the WC fails, everyone will blame the ANC. If the WC is a great success, everyone will say the ANC had no part to play.

that's the problem with politics in SA though. We seem to treat political parties like football teams where we love one and hate another. I've yet to find a DA supporter who will say well done when the ANC does something good and i've yet to see an ANC supporter say well done when the DA does something right. AS long as we "support" one particular party and support them through right and wrong then we have a lot of growing up to do as far as politics goes. And that goes for both sides...

No, I think they barely managed to pull it off despite their general corruption, incompetence, lack of decisive action and obvious political bias.

Or let me put it this way... they only managed to pull it off with the help of ALL South Africans. I don't think this is a feather they can claim all by themselves.

To congratulate them alone would mean that someone is pushing for political brownie points.

The world cup is not only about the ANC.

only if they apply the same vigor to uplift their people who are still living in shambles. then yes it would be something worth giving my congrats.

No, I think they barely managed to pull it ...

:erm: South Africa did a superb job in the given time frame IMO..

Wasn't it you who said the stadiums would never be ready in time, and that they're bound to collapse?

Instead us congratulating a said party, why not congratulate the country as a whole?

If this was the ANC world cup sure, but it's the Fifa World cup, South Africans deserve credit for making it a success though, politics should stay out.

oh, is the tournament over? I thought it just started yesterday. Maybe we should wait and see how it all pans out before we start using the past tense! ;)

When I said "barely managed to pull it off" I meant get it off the ground. What happens from here on out remains to be seen.

Wasn't it you who said the stadiums would never be ready in time, and that they're bound to collapse?

Um, and you took me seriously? You didn't see the little tongue sticking out smiley? Try asking yourself if somebody might be saying something in a sarcastic or joking way. :)

I don't have a problem with that... in fact... I think I suggested that in my post.

The WC is irrelevant to the greater success of the country. If JZ stood trial, the criminals in parliament were held accountable and other corrupt practices were penalized, the country may stand a chance. Stupidity is not a crime, but if the cretins had any brains (???) they would surround themselves with smart people and THEN claim credit and award themselves obscene bonuses. And pigs might fly.

I was quite annoyed to see there were no singers to lead the national anthems. Perhaps it was the sound system or something but you couldn't hear anything. Other than that the stadia are impressive and it is looking great.

That and the disrespect shown blowing vuvuzelas at the start of the Mexico anthem. At least the crowd stopped eventually though.

There is a lot of griping about the money spent on this event but as far as I am concerned it is too late to moan about it. The money is spent. Time to just have fun. If taxes increase dramatically to pay off the stadia then maybe consider emigrating but for now just enjoy it.
