Hi everyone,

I have a internet connectivity of 20mbps and i wanted to connect my workspace through wireless connectivity such that there wouldn't be no wires running around.

Please can anyone suggest me an optimal wireless router to which i can connect the my internet cable such that all the 10 users would be able to access internet through wifi after connecting to that wireless router.

Please also do advice me giving LAN connectivity is Preferable or connecting it through wifi as i have just proposed....will the speed get less if i connect it with wifi or will it be the same bandwidth of as connecting the users through LAN...?

Please feel free to ask for more info pertaining to the issue.

Thank you,

Regards,
Amer.

First, never rely on wireless only...

2nd best would be a Cisco controller with two to 3 AP's. One is going to give to much frustration.

Remember, most wireless AP/s will fall back to whatever the slowest client settings are, so if you have a AP with draft N capabilities and one client with 54b/g the router will supply all clients with b/g

Then the max download speed each client will get is probably around 1mbps if they are lucky....
So better to get more than one AP, and a controller to control them.

Aironet

Optimal normally means expensive
For VDSL there are only a few recommended devices ( according to Telkom )

You can always try a combined unit ( this is NOT an "approved" item )

Cisco 887VAW

or

Just get a basic router and get a seperate AP

Try this one
Cisco Aironet 1042N Controller Based Dual-Band Wireless-N Access Point (300Mbps) AIR-LAP1042N-E-K9

Data sheet here

Cisco Aironet 1040 Series Access Points Data Sheet

IF you are only using one then get the STAND-ALONE version NOT the contoller based version !

This is a simultaneous dual radio dual band PoE AP

Get a Gigabit Catalyst with inline power as your switch

Should go well with VDSL

Hi there
If you want speed an reliability then cable is the best option.
If you want APs then connect them by cable and run wireless from each one. Comments above about wireless running at slowest connected device would be a major frustration

There is nothing wrong with wireless and you dont need to get a cisco AP.
I have two wireless AP's running wireless N on the 5ghz spectrum and they are perfect for all 23 of the users in my office. I have not had a hassle in the 4 years its been running like that(it was on 54G before and that was fine too)

20 mbps? Wow... Lucky you. If you go ahead and connect everybody to ONE wireless access point, you will go back to dial-up speed.

Really. The wireless AP will be your bottle neck.

Best solution: wire. CAT 5e or CAT6 with gigabit switches (whatever your budget can afford) and you will be able to enjoy those 20mbps. And use the Wireless AP for your smarphone and tablets.

Hi everyone,

The best way out i sought is to get a DSL router with wireless functonality and hence the issue is now resolved.

As all the systems were already being connected wirelessly just with the minor change we r gud to go again... ;D

Thank you for all your expertized advice....really appreciate it...
