I am at university and the internet here works through a proxy. However programs that require to connect to the internet such as IMs don't work. The only luck I have had is with skype, as it only required me to type in my username and password for the proxy, while proxy detection was on automatic (under options). Does anyone know an app that I can get that has automatic proxy detection and only requires me to type in my username and password (so that I can load my programs through a proxy), as I don't know what proxy I am using. Thanks

Is there a proxy filled in under Internet Tools?

Start - Control Panel - Internet Options - Connections - LAN Settings....

Just set up each program, every new program to say, this is once-off I believe, enter the IP's, Port Number etc. So what's with the fuss?

Tried lots of the possible proxys and ports but none of them work, but skype is the only program that has automatic proxy detection and doesn't require you to enter the proxy and port (which I don't know), it only required the username and password.
