Hi,

i am trying to get my laptop to use my Imate Jam as a modem through the USB port to connect to the internet.

It verifies user name / password, but then gives a "connection error 734".

Any suggestions (I have googled till I'm blue in the face)

Im running XP Home.

ok, a bit more info please.

what version of windows mobile are you running on your device?
have you installed the correct modem driver?
what network are you on?
what dialup number are you using? it should be *99#
what are you using as login/password? they should both be blank.

where do i see the mobile version?

I installed the driver that came with the pda. network is vodacom & dailing *99#

only problem i had was that i had to download the usbmodem_driver.

ok, if you are using a internet dialup driver to connect, you are on an oldish window mobile version. No matter.

Are you using the HTC usbmodem driver?

are you using a blank login and username?

Try *99***1# or *99***16# , my nokia uses the first number and my other phone uses the second number, you might also have to put some extra settings in the modem properties if it still doesnt work.

OK, this is so wierd.

I haven't tried fixing up the laptop/PDA Modem problem thingy since the last time I posted here. So today I decided, what the hell, let me try it and wa-la, first time round it works. :D

Now my next question, is it supposed to connect at only 28.8kbps? Or is there a setting I must change?

What is it that I can never be satisfied?:o:rolleyes:
