I have a E5331 (http://consumer.huawei.com/au/mobile-broadband/mobile-wifi/features/e5331-au.htm) and a canon MG2940(wireless printer)

Now the thing is I have no clue how to set this up? Normal router would have a wps button to sync them? But I don't know if its possible with the E5331. I normally connect to it like any other wireless network just drop the pin and connect but how on earth do I tell the printer what wireless network and what pin to use. I am stumped

Depends on the device you want to print from. As for installation wireless printer on PC, typical procedure is to install local USB drivers first on PC and connect printer by cable when requested. If you do it in first step, wireless drivers should be installed automatically when printer is detected over network.

Did you try to access E5331 WEB management page? Address should be printed on the label, typically http://192.168.1.1

Yes seems it has not support for this :( aw well :D

Connect to your printer using USB. Use the Canon software to tell it to connect to the e5331 router. Then disconnect the USB cable

According to the manual I downloaded yesterday, it does. You must be more specific to receive help.

This was my plan. About after calling canon it seems my model does not support the IJ canon network tools so I can't use it to connect.. It has no software to search for wireless networks enter a key and join up..

This is what they explain in the canon guide :
Connection Using an Access Point

Make sure that a device and an access point (or wireless network router) are connected. For details
on how to check the settings, refer to the manual supplied with the access point or contact its
manufacturer.
As for a device already connected to the printer without using an access point, reconnect it via an
access point.

The configuration, router functions, setup procedures and security settings of the network device vary
depending on your system environment. For details, refer to the manual of your network device or
contact its manufacturer.

Check if your device supports IEEE802.11n (2.4 GHz), IEEE802.11g or IEEE802.11b.

If your device is set to the "IEEE802.11n only" mode, WEP or TKIP cannot be used as a security
protocol. Change the security protocol for your device to something other than WEP and TKIP or
change the setting to something other than "IEEE802.11n only."
The connection between your device and the access point will be temporarily disabled while changing
the setting. Do not operate the screen of this guide until the setup is complete.

For office use, consult your network administrator.

Take added care when connecting to a network that is not protected with security measures, as there
is a risk of disclosing data such as your personal information to a third party

I am away, can't check, but try from US or international site.
If you are already able to connect other devices to WiFi, then imranpanji, gives a good tip.

This is so frustrating I blame canon and huawei for this.

According to the canon setup :I need to use a wps. aka the wsp button router:D

Good the E5331 specs are

1 micro USB interface

1 Power button

1 Reset button

1 WPS button

1 SIM card slot

But in the name of all that is holy I can't for **** find the wps button

You are right, but if you connect to the Web management page, you will find equivalent button.

HI

The E5331 does not have a WPS button and does not support WPS function :(

then read up on the printer.
there is a way to connect it manually, on the printer to the wifi.

once that is done and the printer is assigned an IP (by the router), setup the printer.
go through steps as indicated by onscreen prompts when running the install disc.
pc will then search for devicces on the LAN, you select, and follow further prompts...
