v3g,

since the last firmware upgrade I have been having serious issues :

1.) Tell connection to disconnect, stays connected. Cannot shutdown, physical hard reboot required. Never use dashboard, but tried with dashboard to see and same thing.

2.) General unreliability of connecting and disconnecting

This is all post new firmware. Before we loaded the new firmware, never had an issue.

Anyone else with same problem? What is being done on Vodacom/Vodafone side re: this

I'm having similar problems in Durban. Whether I connect on 3G or GPRS, the connection keeps dropping and if it stays connected for more than an hour or two I can't disconnect. My laptop freezes so solid i can't even Ctrl_Alt_Del. I'm currently using an Opton data card so i can connect through the dashboard or not and this makes no difference. I am a new data card user, been online for about 5 days. I had problems connecting at first it took 7 days since I bought my card until I connected for the first time, but Vodacom has lent me a card that I can use while Autopage replace my origional data card. If this continues there is no way I'm going to pay R14 376 over the next 2 years. My business is all on site with sometimes visiting a number of clients in a day. My laptop will soon break if I have to keep up 3-4 hard shutdowns a day.

What is been done to deal with all these problems?

Harley79, Rabbiddog,

Not questioning your observations but rather the deduction on the cause. We've upgrade a lot of cards over the last few months and did not notice any increase in problems.

I suspect the following and have asked for an investigation:

1) Network is upgraded, something breaks, gets fixed. 3.1.6 cards are not affected by this.
2) You both upgrade just after this and start seeing disconnects.

Logically, you ascribe it to 2 but there seem to be anecdotal reports that cards previously upgraded also see the disconnects, pointing to something that happened during 1.

Could we get forum feedback on your disconnect experience, especially over the last month together with your Option card firmware version.

Inov8, you can check the firmware version via the Diagnostics menu on the dashboard, please?

Using a 64k SIM with an Option card with firmware version 3.1.6. I am able to connect for a maximum of 2 hours (sometimes only a couple of minutes), and then the connection drops.

The help desk recommended switching back to a 32K sim, however since the weekend the problem seems to have stabilised, and haven't had as frequent amount of dropped connections, but it is still disconnecting only once or twice a day...
