Connection problem: ADSL

Hi guys

Just wondering if someone had this problem before? The DSL LNK light is on but the DSL ACT light keeps flashing on my Microcom router. When I go into the router setup the router does have a WAN ip with the 41.**** ip. The pc can get into the router setup but it cannot connect to the internet. Now im wondering where the problem is? I will say telkom but just want to be sure from my side.

Rather check on the ADSL status page whether the modem is syncing or not. The flashing light usually means that it is trying to resync. I've seen that it can take a while for the modem to lose the WAN IP after a sync loss.

I also had the Mircocom modem but started having lots of problems with it, got another modem and everything works 100% again.
 
He says the LNK light is stable.. ACT is activity. This will flicker.

I suggest you check that you're not capped.
 
The thing is, i took the adsl self install option and they told me 10 work days. It has been 12 and noone has called me. I tried the modem everyday just to make sure that i know when it was on (even if they havent called me) and now i have the stable lnk light. The account im using is a friends account so there is nothign wrong with it or capped or whatever.

So this is definitly a problem on my side then? Cant be that the bastards just forgot to switch on something or such? Thnx for the help so far...
 
Ok, dont have a order number. Need to call them to get it. What is the ADSL number again? The only number i have is for the fault report (0800 375 375).

Make a coffee and a sandwich, grab a book and make yourself comfortable.
Then call 0800 DSL DSL...

After about an hour someone should answer and ask you what router you have...

with the reference number/order number they gave u. looks like this 325648-65.
 
the "system" is actually supposed to "pick up" that you haven't activated within 7 work days - and it is logged onto the system again as a callout for assistance...they should have phoned you.
 
Well, I did everything you guys said and it's still not working. Same status. ACT light flashing and LNK light on. Tried it on various accounts and still nothing. Any more advice?

Its really strange. It feels like it wants to connect but it is being stopped by something. Im pretty sure its not something on my side as ive connected to DSL modems before. The flashing light is a slow rhythmic flashing not a "im busy sending bytes through" flashing.

Please help me!
