Since the past week or so I have had connection problems (Pretoria East), with people complaining that they are not getting through to me (Sony Ericsson V800). Cell info displays "No network" or "Emergency calls only" intermittently. Is this a network or phone problem?

Does/did anyone experience the same problem? Any help will be appreciated - I don't want to take my phone in for repair unnecessarily.

Thanks

Did you log a call with the call-desk? They will know of any network related problems in your area.

You can also check if your phone is set to GSM calls. Don't have a V800 to check but most 3G phones can be set to 2G, 3G or both. If your phone is set to 3G-only, you might see the symptoms you're describing.

My SE v800 is doing almost the same thing. Some times it just never rings and a sms arrives telling me that someone phone and thats it.

Did log problem with 082155, they were not aware of network problems. They also suggested swopping sim with another phone, to see if problem is with sim or phone.

Network setting on phone is "GSM and 3G".

 Decided to take my V800 to Vodaworld repairshop. Out of action for 7-10 working days.........

my 6680 had the same problem. Setting it to GSM only solved the problem.

I also have a SE v800.

I often get a lot of sms (normally notifying me of new voicemail) in one shot. eg. 7 new voice messages.

Whats up with that?

Might be a good idea to upgrade and see if it helps.

How do I check what version I have on my 6680?

Can you recommend a phone that is not a Nokia - the 6680 is really crap?

The 6680 is a very popular phone, but some people seem to get lemons. My own one works fine, but then I doný use it as a modem.

Received my Sony Ericsson V800 back on 23/12/2005. The jobcard details were technical gibberish, but it seems that they replaced the co-axial cable. I am not technically inclined but my guess is that the co-axial cable connects the main body with the antenna that is built-in around the screen?

I am not sure if this will be a lasting solution - what's to prevent the same thing to happen after another six months?

Same phone, same problem, same course of action ... have yet to pick it up tho. Also worry its a short term fix, but got a JasJar for work so it will only be a weekend phone ... hope it lasts a bit longer.
