Connection problems

me got 3g(mtn and Vodacom), Telkom , Axxess, openweb.

3g cannot login most sites. axxess no international(slow) , Telkom(less then 10kbps)

Only my LAN working 100mbps:D

Would local cap work then for WoW, or should we just wait till it comes back?

Cause i dont have like a MWeb or any-other type of IS - ISP :(
just telkomz

Right, now I have the same problem, but heres something weird:

My friend has his pc at my house. He has been playing all day, he just logged off fine now. Yet I cannot connect on mine (or his). I'm on SAIX at the moment

Workaround, tested it with my friend

The problem is that for whatever reason, Telkom DNS not resolving anything at .worldofwarcraft.com

So, add this line to your windows hosts file, and you can play.

Start, Run (shortcut Win+R):
notepad c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Then add this line to the bottom:

For EU:
80.239.180.112 eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com

For US:
12.129.224.116 us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com

Save the file, then wow should be able to logon.

Be sure to undo this once DNS servers are fixed, or WoW may randomly stop being able to logon one day.

EDIT:
Above works fine in XP, but Vista won't let you save the file in notepad, here is the workaround:

- Find notepad on the start menu, right click it, then select "Run as Administrator".
- File, Open: c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
- Add the lines as above for your region
- Save the file

Should work :)

I live in Ireland and I get the same message, it's website maintenance.

Almost certainly unrelated.

I had no problem logging on, but my brother still in SA did, I worked out the workaround by looking at the first post of this thread.

Thanks Zuldritch

Thanks Zuldritch.

Works like a charm. Ok with Vista you have to give permissions to the current user. On Xp works Fine. Pity about the Forums..
My mage fires again .No more invalid Targets
:D

Grrr, raid was cancelled due to this. Pity I didn't think of switching to verizon earlier =(

EDIT: A guildie logged on with her Telkom ADSL though.

anyone managed to login? trying now for an hour or so, without luck. guildies from europe are all ingame and raiding

I connected with the 626 account from axxess...
Getting great speeds

I too love you /hug

im playing on azuremyst realm now and my latency is never above 238ms:D it sits comfortably at 200:D its awesome:D medium pop servers ftw:P

Me can not get above 21kbps...

Same. I sat and watched my wow traffic and it peaked at 10KBps during a raid, so i thought, lets hit the line hard and i started downloading an iso file from the local ubuntu mirror. Traffic peaked at 21Bps. theoretically still adequate for wow, but its an indication that something is out of kilter. Im supposed to get up to 51KBps ( 512K line - Axxess unshaped account).

Im ready to smash someones head into a wall.......
