Consensus on 8ta? Will they drop calls as much as useless useless Cell C?

My fight with Cell C will continue long after I've ported away from them, as I can't stand idly by while they take money from people without providing a service. Plus, I've put so much effort into pi$$ing them off, that I can't give up now (I log a fault and get a reference number for every single dropped call. Probably 6 per day on average).

My question is, will 8ta/Telkom Mobile botch the job as much as Cell C? My job mandate has changed recently such that I need a reliable cellular provider. My instinct says I should take the price hit and go back to Vodacom, but I'm open to the idea of trying the 8ta route. Obviously I'll be a lot smarter this time - prepaid sim, load 20 bucks, do some tests, etc.

What are the reviews of 8ta call quality/stability from those who are on it?

I wouldn't use 8ta if you're moving around, their reception is terrible.

And if the reception is not terrible, it jumps on MTN's network and then the sim card wants to refresh.

There is one spot in my apartment where I must sit if I want to use my 8ta sim, and as soon as I move my head or get up, signal is gone.

Rather port back to Vodacom and save yourself all the frustration.

Weird, we had 4-6 dropped calls a day on Vodacom. Ported to Cell C and had maybe 1 or 2 a month. Wonder why?

I've had no problems while moving around metro areas and main routes in SA. TM 3G in non-metro areas is a bit of a gamble but voice has not been too bad as it hops onto MTN's 2G network.

I know people who are happy with Cell-C. I on the other hand have a really bad signal from Vodacom in my office and I rarely use anything better then edge

My problems with Cell C was Vodacom tower nearby, so I moved to 8ta. Now this issue is highlighted in headlines. I have generally no problems with 8ta, except late night when burglars decide visit a tower looking for batteries. Using 8ta-only package, so MTN towers are not able to mess up with my connection.

Odd, had my CellC prepaid sim running a month and a half now, no call issues.

I've had the odd "roaming data" message whilst in Tsakane/Brakpan, but after a reboot or getting back to er.. civ.. er.. more technologically updated areas, everything's back to normal.

My Vodacom sim's been changed from contract to prepaid (awaiting number port to cellc) and suddenly vodacom drops calls like its the new business
