Considered UNSOLICITED BULK EMAIL, apparently from you

I use Vodacom 3G and now suddenly my e-mails are being blocked or no delivered and I get "Considered UNSOLICITED BULK EMAIL, apparently from you" messages.

It is driving me crazy because (a) my e-mails are not bulk e-mails and (b) I am sending to people on my normal address list and have never had any similar problems

Please, is there someone at Vodacom or someone here who can help. It is driving me crazy since I use my computer for work and it means I cannot get urgent messages away to people waiting for them.

Thanks for whatever help you might have, since Vodacom customer services seem not to know what I am talking about.:crying:

How many email are you sending out at a time?

PS, have you tried to call Vodacom to resolve the problem or did you post on a public forum hoping in the off chance that a rep will see this and respond to you?

Is the IP address you are assigned when connecting to 3G not perhaps blacklisted ?

I said already it is normal e-mail - NOT bulk e-mail. I know the difference between the two. I send to people I send mail all the time - sometimes with 2 or 3 people copied. But I even get the message if I send to only ONE person at a time

Ghoti,

1) One at a time
2) this is my last resort. Vodacom Customer Care has not responded and their call centre people do not seem know what I am talking about (2 people) or tell me there 'are no settings they can change' (two other people). You seem to be one of the Vodacom people and I must say I don't really like the sarcastic tone of your question.

How would I know that?

Win 7 - > Control panel -> Network & Sharing centre - Change adapter settings

Click on connected 3G device - under details tab you should see your assigned IP address.

Look up said IP address on blackists on the internet. Google is your friend

I had to help someone with a similar issue recently.

turned out he had a stupid password, it was hacked and his email addy was turned into a spam address by the hackers.

That happens.

I have found sometimes if the IP address was peviously assigned to someone else that got blacklisted for spamming and any subsequent use of the that dynamically assigned IP will be refused by mail servers as being a spam adress (IP)

Yea well look if you use your email address as your password expect pain.
They sent around 15000 emails before it got blocked and all his contact list got a copy of them.

@ the OP

If mailservers are rejecting your emails it is more thank likely you have been blacklisted somewhere as a spammer.

Either the IP address you are currently assigned by the 3G device is blacklisted or the domain name of your email address is.

Test them both (ie IP address and your email domain name) at this site http://mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx and let us know what pops.

Also try sending a test email from a different email account. That way you can determine if it is a domain spam issue or an IP address issue.

I did the test from another e-mail address and it seems OK...

My normal ISP seems fine, but now I am looking for the doman name assigned by the 3G dongle and I am not sure where to find it

OK, so your IP address is blacklisted.

Inform your isp that the IP address you are currently assigned to is blacklisted and the blacklisting needs to be removed.
Usually this request falls on deaf ears so the only other alternative is to disconnect your 3G device from the internet for a few hours and hope that when you reconnect that you get assigned a new IP address that is not blacklisted.

I have seen this type of blacklisting many times, especially on the Vodacom network,

(2)
The domain name of your email address is that portion after the @ in your email address.

for example joe@twinkles.co.za the domain name would be "twinkles.co.za"

now that you have determined your domain name you can check if it is blacklisted with the link I posted.

Also, forget trying to clear the blacklisting yourself from the 3 blacklists you are on as they need to be done by the ISP
