So I bought myself a prepaid 8ta SIM card and had it made non-roaming so that I could test out the network this week. The coverage map says I'm in the red, but the signal is terrible compared to my previous Cell C experience. I'm looking at -89dB to -97dB compared to Cell C's -67dB. However, local ping seems to be much better compared to Cell C.

Download Speed: 2102 kbps (262.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1728 kbps (216 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 52 ms

I don't have a Cell C speedtest on hand but I would normally get approximately 100ms latency with them. 8ta is obviously much better in this regard but their download speeds are a large step down from Cell C's 6Mbps. I assume this is because of the difference in signal. So what I want to know is, what are my options with regards to boosting my abysmal signal with 8ta? I'm using the Huawei E1752 modem and am located in Cape Town.

Your speeds are fine considering signal. Think about boosting signal, but your modem doesn't have external antenna connector. With this modem corner reflector seems to be non-expensive solution. But get self-powered USB 2.0 hub first, as you need to use longer cable and modems don't like it. Moving modem to different place also can help.
If you find a good spot, WiFi router with modem is also a solution.
