Constant Disconnects

It's definately not ISP related either....

I raid via Webafrica on Verizon / SAIX ... also have an Axxess 626 account... they all do the same. Proxy / non-proxy. I have ruled pretty much everything out via process of elimination except the line. But with the telkom monkeys if they see your line is sending and receiving data, they pretty much shrug their shoulders and say nothing is wrong.

I am convinced its something in the game that changed....
After the TOC patch there is tons of people complaining on the forums about DC's. It's something that changed on the code side... it has to be.

I was getin 700-900ms on Saol shaped (canaled it last night). Between 500-800ms on Axxess UNshaped (bye bye axxess) got a R150 5gig from afrihost and I got 250ms in freakin DALARAN more than once and raidin is more stable and alot less Dc's. Raiding is fun again

I wouldnt even say its my latency... was playing at 230 / 240 Ms when I was dropped.

With my old pc, under heavy AOE'ing I could see my pc jerking a bit and eventually it would DC. With the new pc, there is no struggling, no jerking, just a solid disconnect.

I have pretty much given up by now...

DC'd again like crazy IN TOC even in Onyxia 25 man when I AOE'd the whelps down.

My router only gives me the following information though :

Line attenuation downstream : 7 DB
Line attenuation upstream : 4.5 DB
Noise margin : Downstream : 18.6 DB
Noise Margin Upstream : 12 DB

4 Meg ADSL.

I am ruling out PC hardware 100% for now. Upgraded my PC and raiding at pretty much 170 FPS in an instance which is crazy, two dedicated CPU cores just for WoW, not even mid dalaran makes my pc stutter at max quality graphics + max details enabled anymore.

When I DC now... its not even like pc is getting slower or jerky before the drop, it just drops me.

Maybe its a sign... Aion is calling. Its frustrating and horrible DC'ing mid raids.

Your SNR seems a bit low you should call telkom and ask them what it is on the exchange. They can see the SNR and Attenuation of the exchange for your line. If yours is waaay off then it might be something like a faulty line extension.

Further more did u apply the tckack reg fix and the network card settings? Since you have a new pc you might of done this on your old pc but not your new one (I think that solved it for me)

AFAIK the lower the value is of the line attenuation, the better it is.
Not ruling it out, however I doubt it.

I am very close to my closest exchange (its literally up the road).

I am gonna be using the following guide :

In answer to your questions... Yes latest registry hack applied, did'nt have to modify settings on the network card since I am now on the onboard one and I did check the blizzard support site for recommended settings for my specific network onboard card.

Even modified my CPU affinity mask to dedicate CPU cores to my WoW processes. This pushed my FPS and general smoothness up big time. Even mid dalaran. Ulduar I can raid flawlessly... no DC's. The main bosses causing me DC's are : Onyxia 25 man when whelps are being AOED down, Gormak 25 man (guaranteed DC), last night Twin Valkyrs heroic mode joined the list.

This only started when TOC patch was released.

You having the exact same problem I had, well I will only know if its gone on Wednesday. I made the registry fix and I changed the network card settings (different settings name fro the same thing on my gigabit onboard lan - i think i have an aetheros chip)

I have an asus amd motherboard its the one with ddr3, there was literally only 2 boards with ddr 3 so ya wont be hard to find.

try checking your network card.

I tell you this sh#t is annoying hey.

Insanely low Line attenuation you have there. The thing that is a bit weird thou is its really not in line with your SNR. If you are really close to the exchange and have that great LA then you should have nice and real high SNR also, unless there is something not right causing it to drop like that.
Generally there should be no problems when you have a SNR like u have atm (I've done U25 HM's with basically that same SNR without problems - thou I dont know about new content). Its just weird how the LA is awesome but the SNR is standard to low

Take mine for instance, I'm pretty close to the exchange also:

Connection Speed 4096 kbps 512 kbps
Line Attenuation 16.0 db 8.0 db
Noise Margin 28.9 db 14.0 db

See what I mean. Would be wonderfull of a person working with this everyday can post. I'll see if I can get one of my freaky cisco friends here :p

I have tested things on different pc's, lines, modems, proxies etc. Its really hard to put your finger on it but something that I did notice, and I don't know how much truth is in it or how it exactly actually works or if it can be one of the problems, BUT

The LESS there happens on screen, in the raid, or whatever you are doing in wow the LOWER your SNR (Noise margin) can be before you get dc's etc.

The MORE that happens (ie allot of AOE and effects on boss fights, more data transfered then??) the higher your line SNR has to be to have a smooth fight.

Maybe it is code. If you find something please let us know so I can also add it to the connection sticky.

(My current SNR is Noise Margin 28.9 db 14.0 db) but I cant say about current content of patch play since my acct been inactive a little while.

I'll see if I find time to activate my acct and do that content soon and what happens etc.

It has to be code... it abso-****3n-lutely has to be code.

Have a look @ the amount of DC threads on the EU / US forums since 3.2.x

I have done countless hours of raiding, including pre-nerf muru kills where its pretty much impossible to kill the boss with 1 person DC'd or offline.

Vashj, kael in TBC, numerous hardmode boss kills in Ulduar, got my black proto-drake from Naxx 25 ... not the easy mode Uldaur drake, immortal title, **sigh** the list goes on and on. I have never suffered from DC's in the past like this. Something is broken... Blizzard must have made changes to the code or the manner in which data is exchanged.

One thing I have noticed, it's only in TOC + Onyxia 25 when there is insane AOE going on... In ulduar I have NEVER had disconnection issues other than thorim but that was stealth fixed. Dont suffer from DC's there upon pulling like in the past.

I can now run 5 man instances with all plugins disabled and with only the occasional disconnection.

I tried "For the Alliance!" last night.. as we got into Orgrimmar.. I got chain disconnects. Large parts of the game are now unplayable for me :(

try the tcp fix. The TCP fix kind of makes sense since it is sending acknowledgments immediately instead of waiting and bundling them together.

Argh it always seems like everything is against me playing WoW.

Line went down for about 4 days, came up again, now it's just dead slow and dcing ALOT. Can't do arena. Guess it's an area problem since after the rain.

Is anyone using Lowerping? I'm trying to get it to work but logging in with putty just freezes up my WoW and then disconnects me. Am I doing something wrong?

Services like LowerPing and GameMax are less tolerant of packetloss than a direct connection in my experience.

When my connection is working well I can use GameMax and reduce my latency by about 100ms off what I get with the tcp registry tweak.

I love you.

GameMax took my MS from 600 to 375 . Thanks so much :P

Gamemax is working much beter these days. Though a word of warning. Dont switch between using gamemax and without using gamemax when logging into the game. This gets picked up by Warden (blizzards thingie) as account being compromised

3 weeks ago = dc every single time on the first boss in Toc 25
2 weeks ago = played at sister with the same pc (different line, router) = 0 dcs
1 week ago = back at homoe dc dc dc everytime
last Friday switch routers attempted TOC 25 with my pala = dcs
yesterday = 0 dc's on Toc 25 normal and heroic. (still on alternate router)

conclusion even though Pornolio doesn't agree: your router and line settings do have some play in the disconnecting issue.

Hehehe... well thats the great thing about forums. We get to share our differences in opinions and experiences.

On my side I fixed the DC issues, there is ONLY one encounter I am 99% sure of where I will DC but thats a game issue, since there are just too many people suffering from DC's there. I will most likely see tonight if ol Gormak Pwns my connection. All the other DC's are now sorted. Even our suicidal Twin Valkyrs strategy where I use to DC.

Tbh there is a ****load of things that can cause DC's and you need to find your problem

Routers (the way the handle things, how good they are etc) and more so the line quality (LA, Noise etc) have a bit impact. But also your network card, settings, windows, wow itself, drivers etc etc

I was on a RC build on Win7 and I had latency problems & FPS lag.

Went back to XP with the settings and drivers I knew worked, and now I'm back @ sub 300ms ping.

i had constant dc's 5 weeks ago, and got a reply from the mweb rep on this forum. By then it was back to normal, but at least i got some feedback

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthre...25#post3134225

since monday i noticed an increase in my latencies, and contacted Mweb again. There was nothing wrong found....tonight was raid day, and guess what? constant dc's, latencies up to 1000ms

it sucks
