Yes.....it pisses me off completely....here I am sitting at work, and yet the usual suspects always have a tendency to book off "sick", yet they updating their profile pics on bbm etc and yip.....they not at home....they out in the crowds jolling at fun fairs (example)etc.

And the worst part is the company doesn't do anything about it.

...and yet there are those hardworking, unemployed folks whose dying to just get half a chance to prove themselves... I think some folks gets too complacent and tries to get one over their employers, albeit a sloppy attempt at it lol.

Drop a note at HR, as Libbie suggested, with a screenshot of their facebook status, or something to prove your allegations. :)

If my dad books off sick, he won't go out that evening, even if he feels fine - if someone from work sees him and reports him, it wouldn't look to good.

People will always push the boundaries in this regard. Forget reporting them...if HR isn't doing their job then reporting it won't help.

+1

HR will do something

My company will turn around and say....but how do you know that those pics were taken on that particular day they booked off sick? My company has a tendency to protect the useless employees who abuse the system. Hell my superior wanted leave days to go on holiday, so the leave forms were filled out but not submitted, then during that same time they wanted leave a usual suspect booked sick leave....and the company has a so called strict leave policy with regards to people wanting annual leave when others are off sick, so what happens.....some how they just manage to "fall sick" the exact amount of days (and the exact days) they wanted annual leave for holiday....yet again a usual suspects.

And no.....the leave forms only get submitted once you get back to work (although they are filled out prior to your annual leave). Stupid....I know.

No doctors notes for the sick periods? They are mandatory for more than 3 consecutive days. Including a Monday or a Friday.

They do have sick notes, but they getting it from the government doctors so it doesn't cost them anything.

In that case, put your head down, ignore the crap and start looking for another job (or not)

If you sit there and complain to the anonymous ether while fretting about something you don't seem to be able to do anything about you're just going to give yourself an ulcer.

Life is about choices - make one!

Drop an anonymous note off at HR

Or say nothing and admire them for having the balls to do it. Either way, they are only allowed something like 30 sick days every 3 years or something like that. And come bonus/promotion/review time it will come up.... unless they are buddies with the boss. Then you are screwed.

... why don't you take a sick day every now and again?

Reporting them would be shameful. Don't be that person. They can't get away with it forever though. It will come around to bite them in the butt.

They'll do jack ****.

People do as they please these days... and you don't need a sick note if you're sick for just a day.
You only need a sick note if you're off for more than two consecutive days or if you're off sick more than twice over an eight week period.

Amended slightly.

This is to close the 3 day MC requirement loophole. It really nails the payday hangover/long weekend specialists.

The company also has the right to question any MC, especially if it indicates that the employee was not examined by the medical practitioner. If you read the MC carefully you'll note that there is a portion where the medical practitioner must select where he/she examined the patient. The "not examined" option is normally when the patient gets the MC after the alleged "illness".
