Construction van falls into 'Gautrain hole'

Unsurprisingly, they distancing themselves from this. Guess we will have to wait for results of back analysis and inquiry to know exactly what was the cause.

THE Bombela Consortium rushed to squash rumours that the sinkhole which led to the closure of Oxford Road between 8th Avenue and Riviera Road yesterday was caused by continuing Gautrain work.

The hole, which developed near the site of the July collapse caused by tunnelling for the Gautrain, is thought to be the result of subsidence around utilities in the road, although the City of Johannesburg was unable to confirm this yesterday.
