[Constructive] Suggestions for Vodacom: Data Packages & Bundles

They won't make data bundles availible in the near future. They make more money now with data than they will make with data bundles because at the moment you pay R2 per meg. With data bundles it will be cheaper.

They could've made it availible a long time ago already.:( :(

I can guarantee you they are losing more money now at R2/meg. I have an MTN SIM card you know. At R10 or R100 I pay only R1/meg or at R220 I pay only R0.63/meg. The problem is really their billing system. How many people are really using their R2/meg offering over MTN's 'value for money'.

VMS and Harley79, where are the roll-over requests? :)
Right here - please introduce roll-overs for unused bandwidth! And expire roll-overs only after 6-12 months, or better still, never expire rolled-over bandwidth :D

Also consider a better upgrade path for *all* 3G users to HSPDA (as discussed elsewhere on this forum).

stormwalkerza - i think you're onto something....

Agree 1000% with you Piesang! ;)

So, Vodacom, when are we getting "rollover" bandwidth, or, in simpler terms, prepaid gigabytes?

Hi Vodacom3G and others

I am somewhat surprised that Vodacom does not jump at the current opportunity to extend their user-base with competitive pricing. With DSL1024 costing around R 900-00 per month with a 3 GB cap (the standard offering), it makes sense for Vodacom to drop their data rate to below R 300-00 per GB, which means that they will be cheaper and faster than ADSL. It will make the advertising campaigns easier, and users will most likely be willing to sign a 24 month contract for such a service. There are also currently many frustrated ADSL customers waiting for ADSL…an easy market to capture if the product is priced and marketed correctly.

This window is however shrinking as ADSL price reductions are looming, which means even more drastic price reductions will be needed to capture the same market share. And then the SNO’s services are on the horizon and ADSL coverage is improving all the time.

I can only assume that Vodacom is concerned about their network’s performance or that the MBA’s are conservative regarding their current user base’s revenue with such a price reduction. There are however ways around it. How about R 400-00 per GB, and then buy two and get one free? This will encourage higher ARPU as well as compete favorably with DSL1024.

I personally think the Vodafone NZ example should be followed (under R 200-00 per Gig). Vodacom will quickly become the dominant force in the broadband environment, and with the cost of BW coming down all the time the profits will come in future. Local users’ willingness to sign 24 month contracts makes it a very logical move in the current environment, but maybe I am missing something.

Regards,

RPM

Guys...Vodacom has really given us the unthinkbl by doing the FREE swapouts to HSDPA and in that same notification they have promised that we can look forward to lower rates soon...
Hopefully we gonna see those rates soon...
V3g:
any idea how the new rates are going to be structured?
different charges for different protocols ?
and will 3g/HSDPA be one charge and EDGE/GPRS another?
or 4 different charges?
if 4, how will u select between HSDPA and 3g? & Is that possible?

V3G, sorry for the impatience but now that im on HSDPA i really am desperate for lower per mb rates or else im gonna run up a biiiiiiig bill

( looking forward to the R99 per gb rates..... )

6GB International/90GB Local ADSL GIGABYTES

Cost Breakdown:
Telkom Line Charges for 384 line: +/- R550
3x2GB raw IS 2/30 accounts: R495 (R165x3)

Total Cost: R1045

Cost Per Gig international: R82.50
Cost Per Gig local: R10.45

HSDPA
No distinguising between local/international:
Cost of 6GB: R 2,495.00 5GB + R 499.00 1GB = R2 994.00 (god knows what it would have been outa bundle.)
Cost of 100GB: OMFG dont even want too think about it.
