Consumer bill needs ‘further work’

Seems the industry is fighting tooth and nail to ward off any accountability. This bill must go through - it's time that companies in this country can be nailed for bad service delivery.
Consumer Goods Council legal and regulatory affairs manager Nick Tselentis said the bill had caused a great deal of uncertainty in the industry, which was governed by contract between franchisor and franchisee. It would make these contracts subordinate to law.
Shame.

“It seems inequitable that the bill protects the franchisee to the hilt but the franchisor, who has created the business and built the brand, is left out on a limb. The franchisee also needs certainty that the co-franchisees are playing by the rules.”

boo-hoo! the last i checked they paid some hefty franchisee fees, royalties ranging from advertising to whatever else franchisors dream up, topped up by being a % of gross sales, not profits. and now u dont want 2 b accountable 2 noone? thats sa big business 4 u...

SA business just wants to assrape the SA consumer- now that there's a law on the horizon they cannot accept it's the end of the party for them
