Bidorbuy.co.za has pointed to a big increase in the interest for Mandela-related items on its site including a 2007 Gold Protea Mandela sold for R47,000.

I have those and his Madiba's 1994 Inauguration Zippo :"). Saw someone is punning it for R3000.

I have a couple of these:

I think they cost something like R50 when they were released, about a year ago they were going for around R1000, now they are going for anything from R2000 upwards.
The ones without steps or doors generally go for more.

You will find that most of the group-buying specials have been horribly overpriced. Many buyers on those sites paid sometimes 10-fold of the actual market price and will never be able to recover the initial investment. If it was that easy to get rich on a few coins, I wouldn't work anymore.... but here I sit

Unless they're the first press from the mint, sealed, and stamped, they're only worth the face-value, i.e. R5. One of the afore-mentioned types sold for R2.5 million this past week, afaik.
