Burned another Sonoff TH16 yesterday on my 3KW underfloor heater. It seems the safe approach is to use a contactor to handle the load and to use the TH16 to control the contactor.

Has anyone done this and can recommend a contactor to use?

Or would I be better using an all in one wifi plug and if so any recommendations on which one?

The TH16 is rated for 15A but I calculate about 13A draw on the the heater.....

Heating part isolated at the DB? Must it be sonoff controlled? Else slap a geyser timer wifi breaker into it and call it a day.

nah... it's plugin at the wall in the bedroom. would be nice if that plug was isolatable but not. doesn;t need Sonoff control, just homeAssistant control to run the timer setup I have for it which keeps the missus happy.

A CBI astute is probably your easiest solution

20A contactor could be a bit light
30A should work fine
Any electric supply place should stock them

You can try the sonoff powr320d. I have one on a 4KW geyser after the CBI astute on it blew and so far its doing good.

I see there is a thr320d as well.

Th Astute Smart Plug may be a good option for you, they are rated for 16 Amps (Unlike the controller which is rated at 30 for inductive loads), but they are also rated for an "Uninterrupted" duty cycle.

I think the issue is that if its a 3KW heater with 220V then the resistive load is close to 14A....
To be honest though... the switch itself is actually fine. But one of the negative terminals is scorched and the negative wire insulation has melted. These are connected with shoelace lugs

Replace the plug socket with a CBI Astute one? Run all three of my aircons on them for a solid 3+ years now.

Only problem there would be if you have multiple other devices running off the same plug.

Yeah my experience with the TH16 as well is that the board isn't the problem it's the contacts themselves that just can't do the job.

One of my pow also melted on neutrals, i desolder the terminals and connected my own wires to the solder traces ,
14A on that device is a bit high especially for a high duty cycle
