same as the Firestone Turanza ER300 i can get for R790, but according to reviews its a very grippy tyre but also a bit soft so doesn't lat that long....

You get different compounds in the Bridgestone range. If a set lasted 60k km's on an Uno Turbo i'm sure you will get close to 100k if not more in your A6

You can get away with it, as you do have a valid concern with wear, but I don't want to be on a wet road with slicks at the back!

hahaha for sure not, might just be then that i wished i had a quatro and not the front wheel drive....

luckily the car is mostly idiot proof are very good and i haven't ever felt like i'm getting close to losing it.... (Traction control has kicked in usually before i can even get close to making a mess of things)

I would buy anything but Continentals . I had to replace 4 tyres on my Merc CLS under 20,000 km , The tyres were all cut on the inside ( all 4 ) and I had it checked with one of the dealers and he even checked the pressure and found it to be correct , but when we sent the tyres to Continental to ckeck they made all sorts of excuses, they were very arrogant and refused to do anything about it or replace the tyres
The tyres were so bad that mercedes told me not to drive the car until i fitted new tyres and also they could do nothing about it , it's Continental's problem
Any new car i buy I will only do the deal if the car as different tyres or the dealer changes tyres , ANYTHING AS LONG AS ITS NOT CONTINENTALS.

This is the eg. of local brands.
My Audi was propably imported fron Germany with Contis as those tyres were brilliant.

Continental Super Contact 2.

Silly reasoning but I go for German tires for a German car. Just seems 'right'.

Pirelli was the highest-ranked tyre brand for the second consecutive year, with a score of 841 on a 1 000-point scale, followed by Michelin (836), Bridgestone (815) and Yokohama (798) in the customer satisfaction index study conducted by JD Power and Associates, a leading global independent authority on consumer-reported quality in the automotive industry.

Firestone (769), Goodyear (780), Dunlop (781) and Continental (789) tyres were all ranked below the average of 790. The two lowest-ranked tyre brands were Korea's Kumho (766) and Hankook (752).

based on a 3 year old JD power survey Pirelli seems to be the way to go....
anyone know of any more recent surveys or tests?
