Continual dissconnection with Bitorrent on Afrihost capped.

I have an Afrihost 2MB capped account which allows me 21MB of data per month, for which I am very grateful, but, whenever I download on bittorrent I get frequent disconnections. Within about a minute or so I am reconnected so the problem is resolved, but why is this happening? I can understand an Uncapped account being 'limited' but feel I am being wrongfully targeted.
I would be grateful if Mr Afrihost could reply to this problem.

Currently (5pm Sunday afternoon) I am disconnected for some minutes now.
 
Can you post your line stats? And 21MB of data is not a lot, do you mean 21GB?

And yes, you are quite right. It should be 21GB.

I'm afraid I don't know how to access my 'line stats'.

I am not standing in for him, just post in the capped feedback thread. It's Sunday evening and the support team has off today.
The point of these forums is to help others/spread information.

In order to access line stats, hit the windows button and r at the same time.

A run dialog should pop up. Type in cmd and hit enter.

There will be a black command prompt with white writing. Type ipconfig into the prompt and hit enter. Look for the entry "Default Gateway" and write down the number on the right, e.g. 192.168.1.1 for me.

Type that number into your browser. It should ask you your password, if you haven't changed it, type in admin as username and either admin or 123456 as password, depending on which one works.
Look through the router for a page that shows stats, such as Attentuation etc.

We could be more specific on where to look in the router if we knew what router you have.

Ha ha....my download has just finished and between 05.08pm when I first posted and now I had NO disconnections. Someone at Afrihost is monitoring these boards........

More likely that a fault was resolved or people started seeding on BitTorrent.
 
Morning Guys! :)

We didn't see any issues on our ADSL Network last night.

When you experience a disconnection, do you lose your ADSL connection, or does the BitTorrent client have no throughput?

Could you maybe send me a PM me with your account details so that I can check our logs to check for any irregularities.

Do you have any Port Forwarding or VPN's in place?

Could you also check your modem's Firewall and Proxy settings, the modem itself could be removing your computer from the network.

If possible, I would also consider asking you to do a factory reset on your modem, and configure it from the start with your ADSL settings.

Before you replace anything, I would recommend doing a factory reset on the modem, it may resolve the issue entirely.

No Port Forwarding or VPN's as far as I know.

The other things I will check through and do a factory reset. Would a faulty modem explain why I ONLY get disconnections when using Bitorrent?

It could be that the computer pulls a lot more bandwidth when you torrent, and this causes the disconnection. We'll need to see if it re-occurs after the factory reset.
