Something wrong there. You basically have to pay 10% duty and 15% VAT. Couriers will charge a few R100's admin fee. On a R4k phone you should only be paying about R800 in total. Some online stores let you select the value that you declare, but SARS want proof of payment, so you have to split payments. Else it's a R500 fine for under declaring.
