Heard on the news today that ICASA has told all SP's to ASK the contract holders if they want to renew or not after 24 months.
No more letters of cancellation that they disregard as with me.
Canceled mine 3 months ago but still paying for phone and airtime.

It will be nice not to have to submit to an extra month (or more) of their fleecing.

Marco, the law as I understand it allows the SP to continue on a month-by-month basis after the end of the contract. This is a change from the previous agreement, where you had to notify them one month before. Obviously if ICASA has made an agreement, then that would be something extra.

Yes, Sackboy. MTN does not stop the subscriptions after 24 months. Even if your phone is fully paid. Your subs just carry on, like mine. Paying R83.00 for R70.00 airtime. This is 3 months after contract end.

Well I just got off the phone with iTalk (now MTN owned) and the lady chirps "we cannot cancell your contract - you must first fax us a cancellation ..in the meantime we will keep charging you the contract price"

The chick at longbeach mall told me that this regulation has not yet been passed ???
