Anyone succesfuly done this?

Boxee picked it up automatically, but I can't XBMC to connect with either free app

Lexor - what settings did you use for Constellation to work?

It won't detect XBMC on my LAN

Constelation and XBMC Commander working fine for me, by default using port 80 ... you have to allow for it in XBMC's settings, though.

Something is not working ... hence me asking about the Ultra in the other thread.

It just works ;)

I'm also struggling with this one. The iOS XBMC controller doesn't pick up at all, neither does the Android one for me though. All of which indicates something is awry with my settings.

Yea - from what I read, you will need to change something on the PC :/

I'd use Boxee instead as that dors work, but (as luck would have it) the latest version battles on PC's that run Intel graphics. That's me ... *sigh*

I see there's a new beta of xbmc 11 out with improved networking, let me try tonight and report back.

just make sure the ports are set up the same and the username passwords are correct and in the network tab set there are few options to tick for Xbmc control with remote or over network all set it should connect on ios n load the library over too

I find Mobile Mouse works pretty well actually for general Windows control on an iTouch.

Sold the PC yesterday .... Couldn't get it to work.

I will use my TV so long and buy and Xtreamer shortly

I use the official xbmc remote as well. Just input the ip. If it's on it will also pick up the mac, and allow WOL. Ensure all the settings are correct for remote access on your xbmc setup. I think the market has info on which settings. I just allowed everything.

Naturally you're going to want a static ip as well.

If you're not on Android, the remote settings you need to change should still be the same.

Is there an official xbmc remote for iOS? I've recently installed XBMC after ditching Mnet so I'm still new at this. I've installed the free version of Commander on our ios devices, which seems pretty slick, but are there better apps?

Also, has anyone come across a kid friendly theme? My kids are used to frontrow but they'll probably pick up on xmbc quicker than me! :)

You can customize the home screen, add shortcuts, etc.

There are a few skins that offer more options. The default skin is pretty good.

Thanks. Slowly getting there. :)

Also using Constellation, very good app.

But, if you want more than just a remote and want to watch on your apple device then Plex is a winner. Costs $5 but worth it. I tried the Boxee app, but they do not have a server side app for Linux (yet?) and I found the interface on the boxee app isn't nearly as cool as Plex. Also watching 1080p streaming video on your iPad is pretty awesome.

Now all Plex need to do is release a client for Linux :)
