convert mp4 to mpeg

Hey guys I am trying to edit my video footage from my Hik dashcam
Sony Vegas doesnt read the mp4 so I need to first convert the files, handbrake doesnt pick up the audio for some reason on the files.

Any idea what is a good freeware program?

Thanks guys, so the problem seems to be the Hikvision Dashcam F6
You cannot edit these videos
Either the program doesnt see the file or the program doesnt import the audio.
And you wanna know what Hikvision say? Oh no you cant edit these files.

Mp4 is a container, mpeg is a group of standards. You probably aren't having luck because your request doesn't make sense

Windows 10 own Video Editor works almost on everything. Try it

Strange. Not sure why you'd want to convert it to an inferior MPEG format from mp4.
