Cooking with gas

You don't.
It goes poegaai and that is that.
Be ready to connect the next cylinder.
Or switch over to the full cylinder if you have that set up.

Cool trick to check level:

Get a cup of hot water and trickle it down the side. Now run your finger from the top down along the wet surface until you reach the spot where the water is suddenly cooler.

That's roughly where the current level of gas is.

youtube lifehacks, theres a quick explanation for it...

and then your cupboard is wet :p

Interesting tips:

What is the empty weight of bottles?
All bottles will vary depending on their size, etc. The weight written on the metal disc on the shroud is the weight of the empty cylinder.

How can I monitor how much gas is left in a cylinder?
...the empty tare weight can be found on a metal disc on the shroud, this gives the weight of the cylinder

How full is a Calor gas cylinder in a full condition, in percentage terms?
All cylinders are 80-87% full as space needs to be left for the expansion of liquid. The weight on the front of the cylinder is the total weight of gas in the bottle.

Just touch the side of it, moving from top to bottom. Gas is cold. You'll feel it. Alternatively there's a rollup thingy you can buy that will indicate the level (it works on the cold as well)

You should not have a gas cylinder in a cupboard - they should be installed outside. See http://saqccgas.co.za/?page_id=84

My gas installer guy told me that only gas cylinders over 9kg must be installed outside with the proper fixed lines and shutoffs and need a complience certificate. 9kg and smaller cylinders can be stored in a kitchen cupboard with flexible hose to the cooker. I hope he didn't lie to me.

Mine is 9kg's and I have a compliance certificate (this is a brand new apartment). All the apartments in this complex have theirs in the kitchen cupboard.

OK.

I have 2 x 9kg installed outside. The guy who did it told me it was required. He was wrong maybe, but better safe than sorry.
