Cool Ideas Fibre ISP – Feedback Thread 3

Thanks for the lockdown info. Still not clear on this opt in thing, seeing as I was too lazy to go read thread :)
IE nothing will change for you unless you want to move to the 1000/100 :).

Our 1Gbps services aren't limited on international currently.

Is that a permanent thing? Part of the reason I haven't ordered anything higher than 200/200mbps is that message on your website that my international speeds will be capped at 100/100.

Alright, let's clear up the air. Vumatel, LinkAfrica and Evotel have all approached us to provide this "Double Speed" incentive.

Some of them have said that they would waive the higher NNI charges to us, to receive your traffic during the "relief" period. Realistically this doesn't cost them much, aside from backhaul upgrades, if they care...

They have ALL insisted that we cannot raise our fees during the "relief" period. Who then, is carrying the "can" during this relief period? Yes, Cool Ideas.

All operator discounts during this period has clearly has one thing in mind. "Get customers hooked on higher speeds, to upgrade". Let the ISP take the brunt for the "promotion".

We will do it. We know we have enough capacity to do it. But we will NOT be the fall guy...

If you downgrade before the incentives kick in, we will give you exactly the speed you requested.

If you stay on your current package we will offer the free doubled up incentives.

Anything else would be business suicide.

Our formal communications will tell you exactly what everything is going to be about.

It's the same price already, we keep that disclaimer for if and when the service gets abused. But we haven't had to as yet.

Ag, I'm cool with my 200/200. Don't see any need to change due to COVID-19 pressure.

Will we need to opt in to go from 100 - 200mbps on frogfoot? Newsletter from FF said its automatic on 1 April. Just want to understand 100%.

We will let you know as to the terms. If ANY.

Line is down on Vodacom network in Meerensee, Richards Bay since 9:30. Cannot connect. Trying to log a ticket. @TheRoDent and @PBCool have you noticed anything?

Edit: ticket number is #COOL-20200325-401065.

Thanks for the clarification, makes sense. So it's just the 1G club who miss out on the deal due to no upgrade path, and downgrading would forfeit the promo for obvious reasons. Oh well, that's just how it goes sometimes :)

@PBCool, @TheRoDent,
Hi, having constant connection drop off since yesterday. Zoom meetings going to ****.
Have done all the usual, power cycle, reset, waited 15 mins.
Please advise.
COOL-20200325-401106

Connection has gone for a ball of shyte in Pinetown on Vumatel trenched.

Local is slow is as hell for some things and international seems dead as well (O365 and such dead, as well as various international sites)

Seems like KZN paths have dropped again, I'm getting no connection to servers hosted in JHB. (Openserve KZN)

Same thing in Durban North, vumatel trenched. Was in a call and have now had to issue out apology emails.

Same, Kloof, openserve. Says connected but no DNS resolution. Can ping some ips.
