Is anyone else experiencing problems with international data using Cool Ideas? I have had some weird connectivity issues, even some local sites have not been functioning while others have.

I can ping google's local DNS quite successfully and consistently. (8.8.8.8)

But sporadically other International connections I lose pings to. (cnn.com, 4.2.2.1)

Had issues this morning on Fibrehoods, well for the 20min my wife and I were trying. No idea about now though

Seems to be fine for me, CISP + Vumatel. Been watching twitch this morning and ping 4.2.2.1 give me a solid response.

Started late last night for me, and was still an issue when I got up. Restarted the ONT and have been fine every since.

I also had the same problem last night. been fine this morning so far.

@pbcool, any further info?

Just saw this on their facebook page:

SEACOM OUTAGE: Good day all clients please note that SEACOM is experiencing issue affecting your daily cool browsing and downloading, we are currently switching to a redundant path in the meanwhile to better your browsing experience while the good people at SEACOM sort out the issue. updates to follow. !

Yeah Seacom related issues since last night guys, was brief and then returned. Then this morning died completely so have routed via IS for now until they are stable again. We are busy sending out further communication and awaiting feedback from Seacom. Sorry for the interruption.

Thanks for the Update PBCool. I did experience similar issues last night as well.

Why is Seacom always the one to go down, do we think its the route it follows along the east coast that is more volatile, or just a less thought out system than the East Coast cables?

It is an east coast cable ;)

This still appears to be an issue. Pings to european servers are 100ms more than normal.

Issue was resolved late last night, everything is back to normal :)

Seacom tell us one of their routers was maxing out on CPU and kept dropping BGP sessions, hence the flapping in service. We only switched our traffic back to Seacom once we knew it was stable, a degraded service is better than a service that doesnt work at all.

Apologies for the interruption all! We are in the process of moving away from Seacom.
