Changing ISP for BF deals, need advice

I've been with Cool Ideas for over 5 years, and currently I am on Vuma infra. I have been willing to pay a premium up to now for stable ping and good routing, however there are some excellent BF deals floating around, not to mention I currently pay way more than other providers (only comparing normal pricing).

So I think it might be time to finally change ISP since the latest CI BF deals are yet again a slap in loyal customers faces.

Does anyone have experience with Vox for gaming both local and international? I am in the cape area and I get a decent 150-170 ping on EU servers and would hate for that to go down the drain if I change.

Vox international latency seems to be all filtering through JHB at the moment had two gaming buddies ask me about it and after asking them to run some trace routes and looking at them it seemed to be obvious what they doing.

They going CT -> JHB -> Zimbabwe -> UK (using Liquid telecom)

This means their international latency is higher the individual who messaged me first use to get 150 i think it was in LoL and is getting 180 now and Vox dropped the "this is a good international latency there is nothing we can do"

Yeah that is just not good, I am guessing the latency will be at least 200 for people who need to go through CPT to JHB first. This brings me full circle back to weighing up price premium vs performance.

I work for a company in EU so international traffic is important to me not only for gaming.

Yeah, unfortunately, BF deals are mostly geared by the FNOs to sign up new customers. Not benefit existing

I am unfortunately in JHB, so was not able to move to Atomic, instead I'm using Stem Connect, apparently they use similar/same international transit providers?

I'm paying a premium (I work from home) for a 100/100 connection and I am happy with them so far. good latency to the UK around ~165ms (from JHB)
And good international bandwidth, i.e. getting ~100/~100 to UK servers like COREIX on speedtest.net
The bandwidth is where I struggled with CISP and Afrihost, both on occasion would not give the advertised 100/100 bandwidth when performing international speed tests. Went around in circles trying to resolve, they would say FNO/Vuma was the issue, and Vuma would just close the ticket etc.

I'm still impacted by the FNO outages, but no ISP can help in this case.

Can't comment on latency as I am in Durban, however Vox on international download/upload speeds has always been great for me. I've had experience with several different ISP's on fibre connections and can definitely say that Vox is one of the best with this.

That's correct, this specific Black Friday promo is being driven by Vumatel and unfortunately the packages will not be available for order for ISP migrations, only new connections and re-connections (premises that have been without an active service for 30 days or more). Look out for our other Black Friday Promos though.

We just wanted to share the latencies from our Mind The Speed data centers to the mentioned server League EUW (104.160.141.3)
Our JB1 DC to League EUW has a latency of 154ms
Our CT1 DC to League EUW has a latency of 139ms

If there is maybe any other servers you would like us to test, please provide us with the servers and we will run the test and show you the results

I was approached by sales reps from Vodacom, telling me that our fibre service provider (Vumatel) has been replaced / taken over by Vodacom. And they have a Black Friday deal and if I'm interested in changing my ISP, who is currently MWeb. He also told me MWeb is in the process of being taken over by another company / that MWeb is "going down"??
The offer "sounds" great - only paying R90 for 6 months for 100Mbps and after that ±R900.
I've never had problem with MWeb. I've been with them since dial up (more than 20 years).
Is this something that I can consider? I don't want to jump ship and then it is going to cost me way more than what I'm paying now.
Any advice welcome!

To be honest, most reps on the ground are paid per sale, so they will tell you whatever they can to sell you their product or badmouth competitors.

Vodacom is in the process of acquiring that portion of Remgro, which is now called Massiv.
