Cool Ideas tested. Failed. Home-Connect tested. Failed. Next?

Hey, how did you get a test account on Cool Ideas?

I'm moving and will be picking a new ISP. I'm curious to see if I can test Afrihost vs Cool Ideas international on my current line to see what latency is like as I'm sure international latency and speed shouldn't change too much with different fiber providers.

If it does then my new line is probably just crap and that's a different battle to fight.

PM @PBCool

They only give out test accounts on openserve though.

@PBCool - I still have 15 odd tickets open. Once I had reported the problem, there was a level of acknowledgement and that was the end of it. Pretty much never had a response to anything again.

@ThatGuy_ZA - I've had Octotel out a few times. They've changed the box and tested the line and are beyond confident it's not them. I've changed my router several times too. When I do tracerts locally and internationally the issue and jump generally is at the ISP level. Not 100% of the time but it's fairly consistent.

@smc Thanks, man. I'll reach out to them. Much appreciated.

@r00igev@@r - Bold. :rolleyes:

Thanks
Can you please PM me a few examples of tickets? Octotel has had tons of issues in the past as well as recently, I would like to see where we fell off.

At least he wasn't told 'So sorry you feel that way' when raising a legit concern like I did..
Your legit concern was that our connect team directed you to our website.

I said I was sorry that you felt that wasn't the appropriate response. I am not sure why you took it as sarcasm.

Hi Paul.. Sent u a pm yesterday at 4pm..pls can u reply?

I'm with Afrihost on Openserve and it's been really great trust me I would be the first one of the ship if it wasn't. Did it with Supersonic and even had to drag them to ISPA for feedback and responses. Switched and Afrihost and it's been really good. Can't complain much except for a few hiccups here and there like WACS and SAT-3 that went down and the DDoS when they were on Liquid Telecoms.

My sister got Frogfoot and Vodacom in KZN, Richards Bay so wanted to sign them up with CISP but the 20 in queue when phoning sales and the ignored post in the CISP feedback thread CISP missed out and I signed them up with Afrihost instead. 4 days line installed. Router delivered and activated. Still going good. We shall see when Frogfoot fibre issue arise as they usually do.

Would have been nice, but apparently sarcasm and blaming the customer are amongst the corner stone of CISP customer service...

What I find strange is that you didn't complain here at the time of these ostensible events..

I love how people are like "THIS ISP SUCKS AND WON'T REPLY TO MY TICKET, I AM CANCELLING" but no where do they actually try to apply logic to the situation or try to reach out to the guys here on the forum that are more than willing to help, even when they do try to reach out to get to the base of the problem, the guy reporting the initial cancellation won't give details and just says "ISP sucks, that's why" and keeps telling his friends how the ISP is the crappiest in the world, meanwhile his line is the problem and he didn't even try to consider that as a root cause

Logic ekse

Pretty sure I gave several reasons why.

Lack of response from the support team. Constantly dropping line. Cool Ideas having constant issues with DDoS. And lack of response from the support team.

I think this is your fiber line not the ISP.
I managed to get a hold of Octotel and asked them to come out and look at the set up on-site again. They've been out a few times and changed the box a few times so I'm pretty sure it's not them, but let's see.
