Yeah you seem so lately! It's in reference to the Silencio 550 being an awesome case, in fact one of the best sub R1,000. Cable management is excellent. Still lost?

For a high end gaming PC I'd still take the CM 690 II over the Silencio 550, because the Silencio 550 doesn't seem to have that decent airflow through it.
I dig its looks and sound proofing though, but spending R800 on a case is still a lot if it doesn't have decent cooling.

Simple solution would be swapping both 800RPM fans. I reckon it would be hundreds for most single card setups. Depending on the unique room/ambient temp though. These days there's less and less need for airflow. Let's also not get started on how the CM690 is a noisy dust magnet.

I'd guess your right: with the new 22/28nm GPU's they don't generate as much heat as the previous generation cards.
Like with my 2x GTX460 OC cards in an CM 690 II Advance, they actually run fairly hot - even with 2 extra 120mm fans! Luckily my case stays pretty clean with the provided dust filters.
Do you reckon the Silencio 550 would provide sufficient airflow to cool like a single GTX680?

Agreed about the heat issues.
Me and a mate have the exact same i7 setup in our boxes. I have an el'cheapo Gigabyte case and he has the "El'noisio"... he still has serious sound issues. His card fan is not in great shape and the case sounds like a boeing about to take off.
The main issue is heat.
We were lanning over the long weekend and our cases were on the same table next to each other. The top of my case felt like it had been pulled out of the fridge and his felt like we could cook an omelette on it.
Still... I think its the best case for the cash and it comes highly recommended by us to our customers.

If I was going to get a silenced case under R1000 for a gaming machine, then I'd rather take the Fractal Design Define R3. It is a lot more versatile in terms of cooling and allows you to sacrifice quietness for cooling as you see fit.

Exactly what I was looking for, its as quiet as a PS3 slim so I can leave it on all night without it disturbing me.

Kief, glad you're happy. I know you don't have a GPU but if you can see your temps (CPU + HDDs) it would be interesting to see them.

Running a OC'd 2600k @ 4.5gHz, with a Cooler Master V8 Cooler.
5 HDD's and 7950 or GTX680 GPU.
Would you recommend something bigger?

This case has quite bad thermals at stock. And you would be dumping a lot of heat in it with that set up. You'd need to kit it out with more fans.
Recent built my girlfriend a pc with the Fractal Define R3
Really a nice case! And I think the V8 would fit. plus it has nice expansions for fans should you need it.

The Fractal looks nice! Will double check the specs to see if the V8 would fit.
