Coolermaster CM Trigger Now Avaliable!

Depends what you want it for really, I would not think Reds are great for typing.

For gaming/foruming Blues are amazing... So I reckon you should rather get Browns over Reds unless you specifically like the linear non-tactile feel of Blacks, but are looking for something much lighter.

Blues at 50g feel a lot lighter than Blacks at 60g. I make more mistakes with Blues than Blacks so I would make even more with Reds or Browns (45g).

Maybe try to start the sale at 80% of its value?

Or keep. :D

The reason I went for blacks is because the guide on my OP above says they are suited for FPS games, which is what I play.

I agree with that, I would prefer them over Blues for FPS gaming, in my experience.

Is there anything you don't like about your 7G's Black switches?

Nah they are ok hey, I however make sightly more spelling mistakes than I did with my Logitech G11, but that could be due to me not fully used to it yet or switch type not being for typing.

What do you think the cause would be? Key spacing? Amount of force required?

The reasons Blues are said to be better for typing is because there is less force required and the typist doesn't need to bottom out in order to hear/feel that they've 100% depreciated/actuated the key.

So it depends, if you say it's because of the force required to depress your keys, then I don't think getting a lighter switch is wise.

Go to a shop and press the arrow keys on a Razer BlackWidow (there is a cut-out) so you can feel Blues. Ignoring the "click" that Blues make at actuation (NOT the bottoming out click/sound, which are arguably all similar) will give you an idea of Browns. You can also then get an idea of how 10g lighter actuation feels, in comparison to your Blacks. You can also then use that information to work out how linear Reds would feel, based on your Blacks and understanding of different force requirements.

The keys are too easy to press and they pickup too easily, I agree with what you are saying I will rather just get a black one again and stay away from reds. I doubt I will find a shop in Durban that even sells anything close to gaming keyboards, pc shops here are scarce.

Sounds like the lower actuation point of 2mm is bothering you? Logitech rubber membrane would require a farther distance to actuate.

All Cherry switches actuate at the same point.

Have you tried without the palm rest?

Seems better but I like the palm rest, else i would of gotten the G6 :D thanks though will take the palm rest away when I want to type and use it for when I want to game.

Out of curiosity:
If I would to purchase one of these, which would be the best for me ?
I play alot of starcraft and wow and this will all stop once D3 comes out, sometimes a FPS here and there when I go to a LAN etc
I do not know alot about mechanical keyboards.
Any suggestions ?
