Hey guys, looking for a cpu cooler for my new build getting the 2500K so will need 1 compatible with lga 1155 and that can handle the increase in temp from overclocking.
Problem is I haven't been able to find many decent ones that list support for it.

So I need some help with this specially as I'm still watching trees grow while I wait for telkom(limited research-using internet on my phone)

Firstly will most coolers that are designed for 1156 etc. Work for sb, or must the product specifically state support for 1155.

Secondly any suggestions? Looking at spending from R400 to R700.

Was thinking about the Coolermaster VG6T or the Corsair A70, any good?

Any socket 1156 cooler is directly compatible with socket 1155.

If you're prepared to pay that much, then have a look at the Corsair H50 @ R662.
I would guess that it would have the following mounting brackets included, which isn't listed on the site: LGA775, LGA1366, LGA1156 (inherently LGA1155 too), AM2/AM3

Otherwise, just go for a cheap, yet decent cooler, like the Coolermaster Hyper 212+ or Cogage True Spirit (but you'll have to add a socket 1156 bracket with this one).

temps is not much better then my h50 sadly, even though it suppose to spank my h50 badly, maybe h50 is just insane or something lol

i7 930 @ 4.2ghz 1.248 4 cores 8 threads

idle 38-40c
load 68-72c prime 95

normal hottish day.

That is quite good.

Mine is running a smidge cooler but is clocked at 4.0 ghz.

+1

You don't NEED a really high end cooler for SB. A V6GT paired with a 5GHz 2600K @ 1.45v will hit a max of 72 degrees so depending on how far you plan on OCing, if at all, even a cheap Hyper 212+ will be fine as mentioned earlier.

The H70 and H50 sucks, hated the ones I had.

Cool, that's good to know so ill have a look at some cheaper one's and the one's suggested.

Didn't really want to pay that much for the cooler, I'd rather put it to the GPU or Ram.
