COPE = Epic fail?

I feel you are missing the point entirely garyvdh. We are all intelligent enough on this forum to personally realise that race is irrelevant. However the majority of South Africans still see colour. So while we would all like to sit here and pretend we have evolved after 15 years we haven't evolved all that much. There is still an undeniable presence of racism that plays itself out during elections. A small part of society will vote exactly as you said in your post according to what the politically party concerned has to say and then cast their vote accordingly. The others wont and it is those people that we are referring to.
 
This thread is proof of what the real problem in South Africa really is. People just cannot stop looking past race.

It does not matter to them what the people stand for, or what they have accomplished. They see a white woman and judge the entire party based on that.

I wish this country could get past that. I wish we could all just look at each other as South Africans instead of white, black, coloured, etc.

But you guys have just proved that we have a very long way to go.

You are no better than the old apartheid advocates.

Sorry, but I am not as sensitive to issues of race and sex as you guys. I don't jump to conclusions about a party based on what race or sex their leader is. I would rather listen to what they say.

You have to bring race into it because the racial divide in this country is massive. In opinion you seem very sensitive about race issues and start calling people racists for no good reason so of course talking about race's will make you up set because you cannot deal with the fact that in South Africa the racial divide is massive. Go read up on why south Africa is racially divide to get an idea bud

No, I see the problem exactly. It is sad that there are people still who are so bound to the old way of viewing race first. and even more sad that they are spouting their racism right here on this board.
 
It is incredibly sad that we can't see past colour after 15 years but i don't feel there is any evidence of what you speak of in this thread from any of the posters. By pointing out the racism involved we are now labelled to be racist?

This is about COPE and the DA :D not who has a bigger p3n1s

Anyway, I agree that the DA is perceived as a white party. So what, it took America a few hundred years to get the minority to lead the country (Obama) It takes time so heal the wounds created in the past. SA will get there one day, but one election at a time :)

It is racially divided because, as I said, some people just cannot get past it. like you. You look at Hellen Zille and immediately jump to a race conclusion. You look at the party and immediately start thinking along racial lines. But then you have always done that haven't you? Even in the muslim/USA threads. To you it is not about what they do... but of what race they are.

i, like i am sure many others on this forum, would love issues to be discussed without race becoming an issue. but to think that how the vote is unfloding does not have a very strong element of racial undertones to it is to bury your head in the sand in relation to our country.

IMO, COPE has been a success so far.

In general, I think the election turnout goes a long way to finally put to rest who the people of South Africa want in the different positions of power. My vote for COPE has not dissapointed me at all. For a party with just a few months under its belt its a job well done.

I'm already looking forward to 2014. :D

That is not it at all... and you know it. It was the statement that the DA is "too white"... and then to insist that it is an all-white party. When that is not the case at all.

Not with threads like "my white brothers and sisters",not if we constantly refering to anc voters as stupid,brainless,idiots,monkeys.

You get what you create and when right now people just feeding the race issue.
