You actually believe that the DA has achieved anything as the "official opposition"?
Well, I still prefer Cape Town as my destination of choice when on holiday... there is a reason for that.

Yes and they have been replaced by the black version. Remember BEE, AA, etc.Dunno if you know.. but the Apartheid guys are gone now.. mostly![]()
The squatters on the Cape Flats?Well, I still prefer Cape Town as my destination of choice when on holiday... there is a reason for that.

So for the next 100 years or more, BEE and AA will be here and that is ok with you in theory? Come on man. They are using it for nothing more than racist policies against whites. Most of the laws passed by COPE and the ANC (to me they are the same thing) were designed to make life difficult for law abiding citizens.
It is just a different name with the same crowd.
I will not be party to making a mistake again.
I voted ANC in 94 and regret this decision. It was a wasted vote. I should have rather spoilt my ballot.
What have the ANC done besides rape this country blind?
Kids that are being born after 95 have no right to be included in the policy of AA, BEE.

http://www.da.org.za/wp-content/uploads/empowerment-opportunity-for-all.pdfThe Democratic Alliance believes that:
• Broad-based economic empowerment is important, necessary
and desirable;
• Deracialising ownership of large, listed companies is desirable,
but it is no substitute for broad-based empowerment, which must
address the urgent needs of ordinary people at grassroots level;
• Jobs are the surest way of empowering the marginalised and the
poor;
• Empowerment criteria – such as race, gender and disability –
should be “plus” factors, but not the sole considerations, when
affirmative action appointments are made or contracts awarded;
• Affirmative action legislation should incorporate sunset clauses;
• Empowerment should, wherever possible, be on a non-racial
basis.
Sox, they cannot come out and claim it will be abolished as then they will lose votes.
I blv that eventually they would do away with it.
If you don't like the power that the ANC has surely you should vote for the only party that has the possibility of reducing the 2/3 majority - which would be COPE.
In the fantasy world of every other party besides the ANC and COPE forming an alliance they still won't come anywhere near being in the majority.
No ?
Dude, I have noticed that you are quite the advocate for the DA, and your main beef, IMO, is BEE/AA. Have you gone through the DA's policies? I ask becuase it seems even if they were to somehow take over, It would still remain, with some clever and ambiguous wording thrown in.

So they think BEE is right, HDI should be a plus, which IMO it is used that way, otherwise white owned companies like GijimaAST, DD, BCX, etc, would not be making a killing in Public sector.
And just to finish off, the thing I hate about the DA, they never come out and clearly state their position. I would just love to know WHEN race should/should not be a basis for empowerment.
You see, they are all the same. Unless the DA is lying obviously to get votes.![]()
The Democratic Alliance strongly supports true empowerment in an
opportunity society, wherever possible on a non-racial basis
No. It sounds to me as if you don't understand the electoral system in this country. A vote for COPe is a vote against the ANC. A vote for DA is ALSO a vote against the ANC.
No ?

What matters in the next election is not necessarily how many DA voters change their vote to COPe - it's how many ANC voters change. That, dear forumites, is what is going to change the face of politics in SA.
No ?
Sox, notice that its BBEE not BBBEE.
The current model of the ANC is empowerment without meritocracy. It involves unthinkingly putting black people in positions of power without any regard for the consequences. If you doubt this, look at documents like the BBBEE Scorecard, which are clearly discriminatory towards white people.
That having been said, I need to clarify this, otherwise, I might end up voting FF+.
You see what I mean, it needs clarity from the DA.
No way, Helen Zille cant rule south africa. She likes patronising black people with her broken xhosa. She must stop using blacks to win the black vote in this country. Look what she did to Seremene, putting him up for the presidency, yaks, what was she thinking. She complains that people dont educate themselves on DA policies which she claims she has put in the media, well the voters are certainly not liking them since they are not voting for her. ANC policies are king, they hvae brought economic growth and will continue to do so.Yesterday, I heard on the radio that Cape Town is the city with the most squatter camps in the country. What I also know is that the mayor of Cape Town (Helen Zille), when she came to power, the first thing she did was pull in the contractors that were suppose to build the rdp houses. To me that is a step in the right direction. What I do not understand, is why did the new ANC regional premier not do the same for the people of the region? Why are they looking the other way again?
Seems to me that we should give Helen a chance. What do we have to lose?
