Copied DVD shows up blank... HELP!!!!

Somewhere far far away.
My problem is I copied a bunch of wedding photo's onto a blank DVD a while back for my cousin. He used the disc a couple of times after it being copied, so
the write was not defective. After not using the disc for a couple of months
he needed to get some photo's from the disc and guess what....


Windows scans the disc for a while and then tell us it's a blank disc.. WTF!!!!
Tried it on about 4 pc's and samsung dvd player/recorder in living room..
None of them picks up anything on the disc..

Is there any software u guys might know of to get the data from the disc??
 
Nope. I'm guessing you used anything besides Verbatim?
This happens to all optical media.
Thou I have Dysan Black (Black surface) that has lasted me years:)
 
Sorry forgot to mention this was copied onto a HP blank DVD
I normally buy either Verbatim / Sony or as a last alternative the HP blanks nothing else.

But the disc in question was on a blank HP DVD-R
 
Happens if you leave it in the sun etc. Nothing you can do dude :/
 
I agree with the sun theory although that should also cause some warping. Have you tried the disc in a linux box? Sometimes my windows box does not read discs that linux has no problem reading data from.

Ja, or even just another computer for that matter.
 
I've had a problem where the firstm time I used the dvd (kept it in my drawer with other dvds for 6 months) it didn't worked and had "scratched badly". DVDs aren't reliable.
 
The disc is not scratched is was kept in a cd wallet pouch and the other discs are still working that was in the same pouch so:

Scratches - nope
Sunlight - nope

You might be on to something about trying to open the disc on a linux pc.. no where is my live cd for ubuntu again????
Tried on 4 pc's so it's not the pc that has the problem, probably just a dud disc..
 
was it a 'multisession' ? sometimes I do that and no other dvd player will read the disc. just my thought ........
 
Sure the multi session discs can cause some troubles but why would that explain the disc working for a few times? Could some installed software correctly handle open multi-session discs or did you append another session at a later time?
