Copper Smoker

So I had a geyser replaced and it turns out it's copper..

Been wanting to smoke some meat for a while now and wondering if it would be safe to make the smoker from the copper geyser..?

I don't know if my Google fu is failing me, but I am not finding anything concrete confirming if it is safe or not..
