Cops arrest Scorpions boss

Whay arrest a guy who has known office hours and who was probably on holiday at the time at 9pm in the evening?

he was arrested on huis way from the office/work. maybe they didn't have his diary?

Banana Republic Zim 2.0. This is one of the guys that must put Selebi in jail. Selebi made up charges to get him out of the way. Simple as that. This country is going down the drain.

Clever move ... discredit the scorpions, close them, throw out Selebi and JZ's case, JZ becomes the head honcho of ZA (Zuma Africa) .... I wonder who is going to right a best selling spy / thriller novel on this? Gripping stuff .....

At the risk of being labelled an ANC supporter, isn't there anyone that would like to find out WHY he got arrested?

If the guy who the Magistrate convicted of corruption, and clearly indicates that this Nel guy was possibly an accomplice. Much like Shaik and Zuma actually.

If you listened to Moneyweb last night you would know what is going on. Selebi is slowly but surely taking out the people that is busy investigating him.

20 armed policeman to arrest this guy and then he gets bail of R10 000. What a joke. The police is corrupt to the core.

You are still not answering WHY he got arrested. BTW the bail in white collar crimes has always been high-ish. Besides IF he is innocent he gets his cash back.

even if guilty, he still gets his cash back...in exchange for his freedom of course:D

Apparently one of the charges is "defeating the administration of justice" Does that mean he didn't fill in the forms correctly? :D

Apparently several prosecutors refused to issue a warrant due to lack of evidence before they managed to find a judge that would sign an arrest warrant.

If they did not follow procedure then he should be released quickly, something I'm sure his legal team shoud be doing.

He was then asked to issue a section 205 subpoena to force a reluctant witness, which The Star has learnt is a former NPA employee, to provide a statement to the police.

I would love to know what Tshavhungwa said in that statement, to all of a sudden provide grounds for an arrest. BTW I'm guessing it is Tshavhungwa in question. Maybe a deal was offered to reduce his sentence.

This whole thing looks like a bit of tit for tat. The police bypassed standard procedures in obtaining the warrant as they did not go to the NPA. They used the head of the police legal services in place of a prosecutor which is troubling. The purpose of the NPA is to investigate whether the police have enough evidence to get a successful prosecution.

My guess is that they arrived at night as that would prevent him seeing a magistrate until the next day. i.e. Let him sweat a bit in jail.

I also get upset with these large groups of policemen (and women) going to arrest someone who is obvious not going to start a gun fight. They should rather have those officers catching the violent criminals.

I think they also did this with Zuma. It's crazy stuff.
